The Audi SUV family consists of two models, each of which has held up to the general standards of quality that most people expect from the Audi car maker. Luxury vehicles have been the calling card of the manufacturer for more than a century. The German based car maker has been purchased and managed by several different parent companies, but has remained in its home country under local management. It is currently owned by Volkswagen.

Performance and reliability are the key elements of the Audi SUV line. Just like the other vehicles in this class, the attention to detail is often what makes the difference. The models include the smaller Q5 and the larger Q7. The Q5 is considered to be the crossover Audi SUV.

The Audi Q7 is priced in the low to mid forties. If you prefer the diesel version you should add about ten thousand dollars to the base price. The fuel efficiency is not well rated, in part due to the tremendous number of features that are included, which provide considerable weight to the vehicle. However, just like one would expect from an Audi SUV the overall high quality interior and family friendly features make this a full size luxury SUV that is worth the moderately slowed acceleration.

The Q7 Audi SUV comes with seven passenger capacity. The upper level trims add in bonuses like leather seats, front heated seating, and a Bose surround sound stereo system. The lack of the entertainment viewing system has led many families to pass on the older versions. This is an issue that the manufacturer is addressing. Most families today prefer to have the DVD system for the rear seats to help the kids cope with long trips.

The Q5 crossover Audi SUV is smaller, comes with a slightly lower price tag, and offers the car based handling that creates higher levels of performance. Upon first impressions the Q5 doesn\'t even really resemble the traditional look of a sport-ute but rather looks like an oversized but stylish wagon. It qualifies as a crossover based on its size and weight, and its overall capacity for storage and towing. Audi did not intend for this model to be considered among the seriously rough and tough contenders. Rather, it is designed for luxury and travel with ample cargo space and the quality to withstand the basic terrain that you would expect from a crossover.

With seating for five and an eight speed automatic transmission, the car maker has given this model a basic class of its own design. The lighter design and the overall performance enhanced capacity make this the Audi SUV that is appealing to those who want more power and performance than most crossovers can offer but also want to pack for a trip without renting a towable unit.

The performance of the Audi SUV line is one that can be considered to be high end. Each model offers its own unique blend of quality, performance, and reliability that creates public interest. Each Audi SUV is designed to fit a specific lifestyle and offer the features that are most appealing to each.
