When buyers look at the BMW X5 SUV they will have a choice of five distinct trims. These include the xDrive35i, the xDrive35i Premium, the xDrive35i Sport Activity, the xDrive35d and the xDrive50i. Like other BMW vehicles and trims, the numbers in the name indicate the engine that is offered in that trim.
The BMW X5 SUV with the xDrive35i trims has plenty of standard features for a base model. Large wheels, fog lamps, xenon headlights that are both automatic and adaptive, roof rails and a special tailgate that has an adjustable height are all standard. Owners will also benefit from automatic wipers and sensors for parking. Such things are cruise control, climate control that is automated and both a tilting and telescoping steering wheel can also be found with this trim. Powered front seats, leatherette upholstery and BMW Assist are included as well. Even the sound system is luxurious with 12 speakers, CD player and iPod/USB interface.
When moving to the xDrive35d the features stay primarily the same. The only changes are the addition of things like a sunroof, mirrors that dim and front seats that are heated. The xDrive35i Premium takes the same features of the xDrive35d and expands on them. It increases the wheel size, adds in some privacy glass and offers a steering wheel that is powered and adjustable. This trim also boasts completely leather upholstery.
When buyers opt for the xDrive35i Sport Activity of the BMW X5 SUV they are increases the look on the inside and outside of the vehicle. This trim boasts a better suspension than lower models, even larger wheels and sporty seating and steering wheel. The exterior trim is a darker color and the vehicle can reach higher speeds than other models. If someone wants those same features on the xDrive50i then they merely have to add it as an option. In addition they get the higher powered engine, a navigation system and upgraded audio.
Options vary depending on the trim chosen. The base trim allows the buyer to add a Convenience Package with includes dimming mirrors, wood trim and a sunroof or such standalone options as heated front seats, a navigation system and a satellite radio. All of this can be had on the other trims as an option and there are even more. Higher trims are eligible for a camera for parking, adaptive suspension, lights that automatically switch to high beams, a cruise control that is adaptive, third row seating, keyless entry system, climate control and powered seats with multiple movements. There are also heated rear seats and steering wheel, ventilation in the front seats, an enhanced stereo system and an entertainment system for the rear.
