Chevrolet Tahoe SUV Review

The 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe offers consumers a good, comfortable ride with a nicely improved exterior and interior finish. With a good towing capacity and seating for up to nine passengers, the Chevrolet Tahoe is one of the SUVs with a great deal to offer for those who need flexibility in their daily vehicle. While the fuel efficiency rates fairly low, it certainly outpaces the fuel efficiency of the Suburban, which is a favorite among consumers with lots of cargo needs.

Unfortunately, the Chevrolet Tahoe has many of the same issues that the Suburban comes with, including a difficult and timely routine for making all of the cargo space available through the actual manual removal of the rear seating. The steering wheel does not telescope, making it more difficult for drivers with shorter or longer arms to drive comfortably and in a natural position.

For die hard towing enthusiasts, the 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe now offers an integrated package for towing. The trailer brake controller adds more control for the driver who is towing a heavy load, allowing for faster and more reliable downhill slowing and braking. The trailering package is recommended for those who do haul loads behind the vehicle on a regular basis in order to create additional convenience and safety.

The base model offers a wide variety of features that are helping to improve the overall quality of the vehicle. The 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe offers 17 inch alloy wheels standard, three zone climate control, bucket seats in the front that allow for power adjustments, a neat and convenient center console, second row seating with a 60/40 split and third row seating with a 50/50 split.

The Chevrolet Tahoe accelerates to 60 miles per hour under no load in 8.5 seconds, which is quite impressive for this class. The standard 5.3 liter V-8 320 horsepower engine offers 335 pounds of torque and comes with an automatic transmission. The 4 wheel drive version comes with a two speed transfer case. At 15 miles per gallon city and 21 miles per gallon highway, the average 17 miles per gallon make the Tahoe better on fuel efficiency than some of the competitors and definitely provides better fuel efficiency than the Suburban. Towing up to 8,500 pounds is possible with the Chevrolet Tahoe, provided that it is equipped with the optional features that make this a reasonable towing capacity.

The blind spot warning system, rear parking sensors, and OnStar emergency service trials help to improve the safety of the vehicle. A rearview camera is also a standard feature to help improve safety. The 2010 standard for crash testing rated the Tahoe at 5 stars for front crash standards, although the 2011 test offers more stringent guidelines and has not yet been applied to this model.

The 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe is a rugged, go anywhere, get you through the snow kind of vehicle that can be equipped to tow ample cargo. Its redesign features include upgrading the front console to make the vehicle more user friendly, and simple features like the automatic power assist step come standard on some models. While the ride is reasonably smooth, the overall response from the driver to road is definitely more akin to the typical SUV rather than a car. As one of the leaders in its class, the Chevrolet Tahoe gives buyers plenty of options.
