If you are in the market for a large SUV that stands out for its ability to haul passengers as well as cargo but has the carlike ride and handling of a minivan, then the 2012 Chevrolet Traverse SUV is one vehicle you should certainly check out. By choosing a crossover vehicle like the Chevrolet Traverse SUV, you give up towing capacity and other desired features of a truck-based vehicles but in the long run you stand to gain a roomy and comfortable interior, many upscale features, reasonable fuel economy and high ratings for safety in government and insurance industry crash tests.
There are three trim levels for the Chevrolet Traverse SUV. The base trim level, the LS, seats eight passengers and has 17-inch steel wheels, second and third row bench seats that fold, full power accessories and an audio system with six speakers, CD/MP3 player, OnStar and satellite radio. The mid-level trim of the Chevrolet Traverse SUV, the LT, has two versions, the 1LT and the 2LT. The 1LT includes side view mirrors that are heated, 18-inch alloy wheels, parking sensors for the rear and a steering wheel wrapped in leather. The 2LT adds automatic climate control with three zones, captain's chairs for the second row reducing the seating capacity to seven, a rearview mirror with integrated rearview camera and an audio system with 10 Bose speakers. The highest trim level, the LTZ, adds leather upholstery, front seats that are heated and ventilated with memory settings for the driver seat, 20-inch wheels, and remote ignition. Options for the Chevrolet Traverse SUV include a navigation system, towing package and a DVD entertainment system for the rear seats.
The engine in the Chevrolet Traverse SUV is a 3.6 liter V6 which produces 281 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque in the LS and LT trim levels and 288 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque in the LTZ trim level, made possible by a dual exhaust. The only transmission available is a six-speed automatic with manual shift control with an option for front-wheel or all-wheel drive. Fuel economy for the Chevrolet Traverse SUV is rated at 17 mpg city, 24 mpg highway and 19 mpg combined for the front-wheel drive model and 16 mpg city, 23 mpg highway and 19 mpg combined for the all-wheel drive model. The Chevrolet Traverse SUV can tow 5,200 pounds when properly equipped.
The interior of the Chevrolet Traverse SUV is the focus of the vehicle, designed with a two-tone color scheme and trim in simple brushed aluminum and chrome, that is both stylish and functional. Seating capacity stands at seven with captain's chairs in the second row and eight with a folding second row bench seat. The third row is even spacious enough to comfortably accommodate adults. Cargo space is 24.4 cubic feet behind the third row and with the second and third rows folded flat, the cargo capacity expands to 116.4 cubic feet.
Although you cannot forget that you are driving a rather large vehicle, the Chevrolet Traverse SUV rides more smoothly and handles better than many other SUVs in its class. The V6 engine adds to the experience, enabling the vehicle to perform in a wide range of driving situations.

so far my 2010 chevy traverse sucks. I am an older man who bought this vehical which is by the way the LTZ AWD vehical for the gas miliage plus the ride and comfort. so far it has a back window wiper that never touches the window, even if you oil the damn thing it is good for about a week, then it doesent wipe any water away from the back window. it has been recalled already for the seat belts. plus now i was driving down the highway and smoke started to pour out of my dash. I stopped and got everyone out of the vehical. but the dash is now black and no lights at all or nothing else works. of course it is under warentee but they have to send the whole damn dash wiring cluster into the factory to get it replaced and reprogramed, and they informed me that should only take 2 weeks or more. i have only had this car for 5 months. the dealer did say they had to give me a loaner car per the warentee. it is a small 100,000 mile piece of crap, with a ton of dog hair all over the interior. this was a very great stupid choice I made.
