GMC Yukon 4WD is a large truck-based SUV that can accommodate up to nine people. For a vehicle of its size and construction as a truck, it provides a comfortable ride and excellent handling on the road. It is a rugged vehicle and its standard V8 engine allows for a towing capacity of close to 8,400 pounds. The interior cabin is also well-built and designed with high quality materials.

The GMC Yukon 4WD is available in two trim levels: the SLE and SLT. Standard on the SLE are roof rails, running boards, 17-inch wheels, automatic headlights, mirrors that are heated, automatic climate control with three zones, cruise control, front bucket seats with six power adjustments and manual recline, a tilt steering wheel wrapped in leather, OnStar, Bluetooth and an audio system with nine speakers, connectivity for the iPod and USB, CD player and headphone jacks for the rear seats. An option is a three-person bench seat that increases the seating capacity from eight to nine people. A Convenience package is available that includes remote engine start, rear parking sensors, power adjustable pedals and a rearview camera.

The SLT version of the GMC Yukon 4WD adds the Convenience package, fog lamps and leather upholstery. There are more options for the SLT than the SLE version and include a package for off-road suspension, front seats that are heated with eight power adjustments, memory for the driver seat, power-adjustable lumbar for both front seats, captain's chairs for the second row, rearview mirror that auto-dims and a navigation system with real-time traffic. There is also an SLT-2 Equipment package that includes power-folding mirrors, a power tailgate, and second row seats that are heated.

The standard engine in the GMC Yukon 4WD is a 5.3 liter V8 that can produce 320 horsepower and 335 pound-feet of torque. The vehicle comes with a four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive and tow/haul mode. Although rear-wheel drive is standard, there are two four-wheel drive systems available. One has a single-speed transfer case and the other is the more traditional two-speed case with low range gearing. The GMC Yukon 4WD can go from zero to 60 mph in 8.5 seconds.

Fuel economy for the GMC Yukon 4WD is rated at 15 mpg in the city, 21 mpg on the highway and 17 mpg combined. The vehicle can run on gas and E85 which is a fuel blend of up to 85 percent denatured ethanol fuel and gasoline.

Safety features on the GMC Yukon 4WD include stability control, antilock brakes, driver and passenger airbags, side-curtain airbags and the emergency system that is available with OnStar. The GMC Yukon 4WD received a five star rating for frontal and side impact protection in government crash testing.

With the ability to carry up to nine passengers, the GMC Yukon 4WD is a most versatile vehicle. Seating is comfortable for all with the exception of the rearmost seat which has some limited legroom. Cargo space is 109 cubic feet when the third row seat is removed.

The GMC Yukon 4WD drives effortlessly on the highway and handles bumps and rough pavement smoothly. It seems to be less agile in traffic due to some imprecision in the steering yet drives without problems when towing a trailer or other heavy load.
