GMC Yukon XL 4WD SUV Review
SUV Reviewer
The GMC Yukon XL 4WD is a massive powerhouse of an SUV. With cavernous nine passenger seating and offers 137.4 cubic feet of cargo packing space, the GMC Yukon XL 4WD means business. In order to get that much cargo space the third row of seating must be removed. With the third row seats installed the cargo area can still pack about 49 cubic feet. That's more than many crossovers are able to hold with their rear seating removed entirely.
The large cargo area and seating capacity are certainly high selling points. The comfort of the ride is definitely another. The GMC Yukon XL 4WD offers smooth handling in the right setting. You will be able to determine the relative nimbleness of the ride when you're driving in open areas and even in rough terrain.
Power is certainly integrated well when it comes to the GMC Yukon XL 4WD. A 5.3 liter engine is typically found under the hood regardless of which model you choose. With a powerful V8 that cranks out 320 horses and 335 pounds of torque the power is most definitely there for those who want it. There are larger engine options that will enhance the well rated power series. The 6 speed automatic comes standard with each Yukon.
With all of that space comes a rather hefty fuel bill, which is not surprising considering that many consumers are still looking for bigger, better, and bolder rather than looking at what the overall functionality of vehicles. At an average fuel capacity of 14 miles per gallon in the city and almost 20 miles per gallon on the highway you will find yourself at the pump quite regularly. With a towing capacity of up to 9,600 pounds you will watch the fuel efficiency drop to single digits. The GMC Yukon XL 4WD will require you to be a literal expert behind the wheel if you ever plan on trying to parallel park.
Despite a little difficulty in the parking lot the GMC Yukon XL 4WD has a remarkably classy interior. With an upscale effort the interior is not just pleasant to look at if you're a driver or passenger but more of a statement in style. Because the GMC Yukon XL 4WD is such a long and powerful workhorse the sheltering from the outside noise can be a pleasant surprise. There are many SUVs on the market that many consumers have put up with the loud ride and simply never expect it to change. The quiet interior and the classic good looks that go along with that interior are a great match.
The versatile 18 feet that make up the GMC Yukon XL 4WD has made its mark on the SUV market. Families and small businesses can rely on a vehicle like this to make the hauling and towing easier and that everything that needs to go along for the ride will fit. While it's not exactly a superior urban cruiser, its upscale design and features will certainly give you that impression. With excellent attention to detail and strong lines, the decorative trim was a really nice surprise. As a package, the Yukon works and brings more than just travel options to the land of SUV owners.
