Jeep Liberty SUV Review

What do you want your Jeep Liberty SUV crossover for? If you are never going to go off road in a serious way then it could be the crossover for you. But if you do have a yearning to bounce over the prairies or crash through those rivers, then the Jeep Wrangler is by far the better choice. The Jeep Liberty SUV crossover is a competent and comfortable suburban cruiser. It is trail rated but the Wrangler is just so much more so. The Jeep Liberty SUV crossover benefits from rugged good looks in Jeep genes. The Liberty is a solid ride that flattens the bumps easily and almost entirely. It is very smooth on the highway. Unfortunately the Liberty gives up a little urban road handling ability for more off road agility. It tends to follow curves closely with wallowing feel when you make a rapid course correction. But with nature beneath its wheels it is strong and able. You will feel secure in your Liberty when lost on a remote track at dusk somewhere. The Jeep Liberty has a good engine but the 4-speed transmission is definitely in the home stretch when you consider all the standard 6 speeds in the market. It is not ideally suited to the V6 and gives low end fuel economy figures.
The 3.7 liter V6 engine is on all Jeep Liberty SUVs and it gives unspectacular but solid fuel consumption with 16mpg in town and 22mpg on the highway with the two wheel drive versions and 1mpg less in both conditions with 4X4. Four speed automatic transmission is uncomplicated and reliable. The Liberty is can be chosen in 3 good looks, 'Sport', 'Limited' and 'Limited Jet'. There are 2 four by four drive system variants too, 'Command-Trac II' is the normal 4 wheel drive operator, and 'Selec-Trac II' is the second choice. All the classic Jeep characteristics make the Liberty look friendly, familiar and reliable. There is the 7 slot grille, trapezoid wheel arches, circular lights and squat action oriented stance. The Liberty 'Sky Slider' Roof is an interesting option. The canvas roof can be slide folded back to give a big 33" by 41" slice of the starry night sky or the soaring eagles. For the latest models the 'Uconnect' information and entertainment package is a choice addition to the base Liberty. Other additions are, universal remote garage door operator, a neat compass, outside weather gauge and reverse parking aid.
Internally, the Jeep Liberty SUV has legroom to spare for five people. It is utilitarian in terms of cabin fit, feel and material quality. Too many tough plastic surfaces make it a little unapproachable. Still, it is not a bad looking fascia and there is ample cargo space. The Liberty's rear seats fold away neatly and so does the passenger seat. So it can haul as much fishing tackle or soccer kit as you could wish. With the top towing limit at 5,000lbs the 3 child family can be assured of a comfortable boating or camping break. But if off-roading is not on your horizon there other, SUVs with greener credentials and a better ride than the Jeep Liberty SUV.

Buying a 2008 Jeep Liberty has been the worst purchase I have ever made! For the last year and a half, I have an electronic problem that the dealership "cannot figure out what is wrong". So, at random times, the electronic system will go down while I am driving where the windshield wipers come on and cannot be turned off. The air conditioner does not work but the windows cannot be rolled down; the radio, speedometer, blinkers and horn do not work. This is especially unsafe as I have had baby with me since this problem has occurred. We have been stuck in a car with no working air conditioner, windows that do not go on and windshield wipers that do not stop, melting on the windshield, on a hot summer Louisiana day. Not to mention, the blinkers, horn and speedometer do not work when this is all happening. The dealership simply tells me that they cannot figure it out and they "reset" the codes on the car and send me on my way until it all happens again. DO NOT BUY A JEEP LIBERTY!!!!
I have purchased 3 Jeep Liberty's and have had so many issues with each one that I have purchased. First let's talk about the good things. It's a nice body size and shape. It's easy to park in small places. Has plenty of room. It's so sad that Jeep can't make this a nice auto to purchase. Issues: 1. Speedometer does not work and has been replaced many times. 2. Many issues with the drive train. The RAC system goes out as soon as you hit 90K 3. Breaks wear out very fast on this auto 4. It has electrical issues because of wiring is placed in a bad spot so that it's shorted out during driving. The blue wires that run the major electrical system short out because of the E-Break cable rubbing them and shorting them out. They will not recall this. Talk to Jeep and they simply said they are aware of this and have a procedure on how to fix this.
I had a claim on my Jeep Liberty that was flood damage in New Orleans. I was curious to see if it was (as rumor has it) would be for sale somewhere. I did a car fax report on my old Jeep and it showed that it never had a claim filed on it. I was shocked. I found it at a car dealership in up state New York for sale on a buy here pay here car lot!! SHOCKING! So I had to driver to New York and make this a documentary. So drove to update New York near Buffalo New York and found my old blue 2002 Jeep sitting on the lot!!! Wow! It was cleaned up and showed some damage from flood that was still there. Shocking! So Shocking! The dealership is on Route 78 North heading to Lockport. I approached the owner and showed him my old paper work and claim papers that matched the VIN of Jeep Liberty on his lot and told to leave and not come back. So Mr. Colby Auto Sales I leave but I will post all these documents and pictures I have showing you are selling a flood damage auto!
