Performance

It is hard to complain about performance when a sport utility vehicle is powered by a fierce 5.7-liter V8, paired up with a six-speed automatic. The 2013 Lexus LX 570 delivers a phenomenal 383 horsepower and 403 pound-feet of torque. This beast of a machine can tow 7,000 pounds with its full-time four-wheel drive system. Also, although acceleration is quick, taking only 7.4 seconds to 60 mph, one might expect it to be a little faster with an engine of this size. Then again, you do have to factor in the weight of the vehicle.

Ready for the huge downfall of this SUV? The LX 570 offers only 12 mpg in the city and 17 mpg on the highway. This will put a dent in your wallet for sure! One has to really evaluate if the power is worth how thirsty this vehicle is.

As far as the ride is concerned, this vehicle glides over bumps and holes as if it’s floating, thanks to its electronically controlled suspension. What’s even more impressive is its off-road abilities. Between the off-road Crawl Control, advanced suspension design and rugged construction, this SUV motors though the toughest terrain.

Technology

• Sound System: A Mark Levinson surround system is made up of 19 premium speakers for a crystal clear sound.
• Navigation: Receive turn-by-turn directions with real time traffic and weather from the voice activated navigation system.
• Rear Seat Entertainment: Dual LCD screens in the back of the front headrests work together or individually to play video games or watch movies. Other technology and entertainment features include Lexus Enform with Safety Connect, Lexus Enform App Suite, Bluetooth, USB connection, universal remote transmitter, iPod integration, speed sensitive volume control and SiriusXM satellite radio.

Safety

Crash tests have not been performed on the 2013 Lexus LX 570, primarily due to its high price point. No one wants to smash a vehicle with a starting MSRP over $80,000. Braking was tested though and the LX blew the competition away, taking only 199 feet to stop from 60 mph. This is pretty unbelievable for a vehicle of this size and weight. Safety features include:

• 10 airbags
• Vehicle stability control
• Active front headrests
• Pre-collision system
• Active traction control
• Rain sensing wipers
• Smart stop technology
• Safety Connect
• Antilock brakes
• Turn signal mirrors
• Post-collision safety system
• Whiplash protection system in front head restraints
• Electronic brakeforce distribution
• Front seatbelt pretensioners
• Dusk sensing headlamps
• Engine immobilizer

Appearance

Six powerful exterior colors showcase the rugged yet sophisticated exterior of the Lexus LX. The first thing most notice is the jaw-dropping 20-inch split-five spoke aluminum alloy wheels. Once you get past these, you admire the Lexus grilled, body side moldings, running boards, chrome plated door handles, roof racks and privacy glass.

Comfort

The most unique features in the cabin of the LX 570 is the third row seat. When not in use, it can be stored laterally against the side of the cargo space. Supple leather covers each of the eight seats, which is complemented by rich wood accents. Both the front and second row seats are powered for optimal comfort. The third row is really only suitable for children as it has minimal head or leg room.

As far as the styling is concerned, it is every bit as luxurious as any Lexus sedan. Everything you touch feels and looks of high-quality. That being said, there could be a few less controls on the dash.

Cargo

There is no shortage of cargo space in the 2013 LX 570. Behind the second row, 41 cubic feet is available. If you fold the second row seat down, it opens up 83 cubic feet, which is pretty remarkable.
