Lincoln MKX SUV Review

A change of model year to 2012 does not bring any significant upgrades to the Lincoln MKX SUV range. Unfortunately for the Lincoln, and unlike its actual acceleration, the sales of this luxury crossover got off to a slow start. However the 2011 redesigns and additional performance made it a big hit with fans of the All American marque. The 2012 Lincoln MKX SUV remains a top luxury ride and smooth road runner because there is a great deal of motor under the classy skin. Front and rear the Lincoln MKX SUVs have singular new look that, if you are a fan, is endearing and somehow self-deprecatingly heroic at the same time. The 'MyLincoln Touch' electronics are a great idea but generally reviewed as user unfriendly. Drivers get enough frustration from other drivers without tussling with your own cars' mind too. It takes too much learning time and is actually quite slow responding and the black icons on a dark background cannot be personalized so it is very distracting when on the road. Make sure you are OK with it before you buy.
The Lincoln MKX SUV is a 5 person carrying crossover that comes in just one trim level and a standard three hundred and five horsepower V6 engine and loads of goods to look at, feel and use. But that standard equipment package is noteworthy and includes 18" alloys, remote ignition and locking, reverse park sensing, auto dim mirrors to the rear and on the driver side. The 'MyKey' system lets you limit the cars top speed and speaker volume for other drivers aka the teenagers. A powered tail gate, individual zoned automatic environment control, soft leather seating, winter hot and summer cooled power front seats with remembered driver settings, a fully adjustable steering column, all make for total driving quality control. The 'MyLincoln Touch' and 'Sync' supervisory systems integrates with Bluetooth and your iPod interface, plus a multi speaker audio setup from the CD player, satellite radio, and even a USB port, an auxiliary audio jack and an SD card reader. The interior is prestigious to say the least with a curvy fascia and console and a classic line in real wood and metallic blended well. Fuel performance wise the ratings are comparable with its competitors at 19 mpg when stop-starting and 26 mpg smooth running making 21 mpg combined. This is on the two wheel drive version while t4 wheel drive is a little thirstier by 2 to 3 mpg. When set up for towing your trailer the Lincoln MKX SUV can pull easily up to 3,500 lbs.
The Lincoln MKX SUV's big V6 engine is quietly confident and gives ample getaway speed. Perhaps the transmission is a little resistant to downshifting without stamping hard on the throttle. The turning and guiding effort is well balanced and the handling, while it cannot be called racing quality like so many of its nearest rivals it is totally controllable through those fast curves. You may get a firmer ride experience than you have a right to expect from a Lincoln MKX SUV, when you opt for the 20" alloys but nothing can disturb the near silence of a highway trip in your new Lincoln MKX SUV.

I got my 2011 MKX in the fall of 2010 and what a ride! I find this model very comfortable and a dependable SUV. Of all the SUV's this is the top of my list. Lincoln has upheld their mark for this well thought vehicle. I am hoping more people will take a second look at this MKX and spoil themselves with this great choice. Plus, it isn't made outside north America !
I purchased my 2012 MKX a little over a month ago. The 'wow' of all the options has wore off and I have come to realize this isn't what I paid for. Poor sensitivity on the touch screen and sensor controls. Disappointing slow take off, feels like a 4 cylinder. Worst of all the seats are the most uncomfortable, it feels like a third row seati in the drivers and passengers side. I thought I was just being picky but my husband has confirmed (we agreed so you know it has to be true!). The seat heaters never warm up enough to actually need to turn them off. Overall, looks nice and the list of amenities is impressive, but functionality of those amenities is lack-luster. I wish I would have read Jackie Baurer's review, now I am stuck with this thing...
The 2011 MKX is such a disappointment. Lincoln touch is a complete failure. If you want to drive without a heater, radio, phone, defroster and gps this crossover is for you! So sorry I purchased this vehicle 9 months ago.
