Lincoln Navigator L SUV Review

The Lincoln Navigator L is a highly recognizable SUV that fits very firmly within the luxury class. The styling is certainly looking to be competitive with the overall luxury class. Its plush, almost posh, interior and the chrome highlights make it a very attractive and distinctive vehicle. The Lincoln Navigator L is very obviously lining itself up as the rival for the Cadillac Escalade series. While the Lincoln is less expensive the engine size is non competitive.
The flex fuel engine of the Lincoln Navigator L is certainly one of the selling points, until you start to realize that the flex fuel doesn't make up for the weak and sluggish 5.4 liter V8 engine that produces about 310 horsepower. With the six speed automatic transmission it is assumed that there would be a good push of power from behind the accelerator. With more than 6000 pounds to push, the little that could, can't.
The weight of the Lincoln Navigator L not only makes it difficult to haul through crowded traffic patterns but it also means that there are exemptions from the standard EPA emissions testing. Fuel efficiency is moderately reasonable considering the weight of this full size SUV. With 14 miles per gallon within the city and 20 miles per gallon on the highway you will find lighter SUVs that can't match that gas mileage.
The Lincoln Navigator L comes as either a rear wheel drive model or a 4 wheel drive model. Provided that the proper outfitting has taken place it's quite reasonable to expect to be able to tow about 8800 pounds with rear wheel drive. The extended wheel base and single trim feature has received mixed reactions. Some are rolling their eyes with a bit of skepticism and others have embraced fully the idea of offering only one trim level and making sure it is loaded for safety, pleasure, and special features.
Your basic standard package will include the 18 inch alloy wheels, power engaged third row seats that fold flat, leather upholstery, parking sensors, power seats, heated seats, adjustable pedals, a cooling and memory feature for the front seats, heated second row seats, power tilt steering, telescoping steering column, power liftgate, back up camera that is mounted on the rearview mirror, climate control options on the center console of the second row of seating to allow for self adjustments, and an impressive sound system. The Lincoln Navigator L comes standard with 14 high quality speakers attached to a sound system that provides 6 disc CD changer, MP3 auxiliary line and satellite radio that has been Sync and THX certified.
The Lincoln Navigator L provides a great deal of luxury for less than the competition. The one great downfall of the Lincoln Navigator L is the less than perfectly powerful engine. Other issues are relatively nonexistent or easily remedied. For the luxury SUV market recent hardships make it even more financially viable to own a great SUV with all the trimmings. Off road capable, fine dining appropriate, and family oriented this is the SUV that most people think of when they think of high class travel.
