The Mercedes-Benz GL Class G55 AMG SUV is a now discontinued trim of the Mercedes GL Class of SUVs. During its time it was considered the upper class trim of the vehicle. That means that it took the basic standard features of the GL550 and then added some extras to make it different. The most obvious difference between the two is the engine, but many of the features were not the same as well.
Of course the Mercedes-Benz GL Class G55 AMG SUV started with the same standard features as the G550. This includes 19 inch wheels and the popular bi-xenon headlights that work automatically. There are also wipers that work automatically, a camera with rearview, parking sensors on the rear and mirrors that dim automatically on this SUV. Buyers will enjoy the sunroof that is added as well. Inside the cabin there is climate control, a steering wheel that tilts and telescopes, powered seats in the front that have plenty of adjustment options and memory functions as well as heat and ventilation in those front seats. There is also full leather upholstery and heat in the steering wheel and rear seats.
The electronic features in the Mercedes-Benz GL Class G55 AMG SUV are plentiful as well. It houses the COMAND interface that comes in many varieties of Benz, a navigation system and Bluetooth. There is also voice control and a nice stareo. The Harman Kardon sound system offers surround sound, Six disc CD/DVD changer, satellite radio and iPod interface. The features that can only be found on the G55 include an upgrade to the paint and wood trim, chrome guards for the body, a headliner of faux suede and a special AMG instrument cluster. There are no optional features available.
The Mercedes-Benz GL Class G55 AMG SUV is actually quite skimpy when it comes to safety features. Most SUVs have an extensive list, but the G55 is not one of them. It has the standards of traction control, antilock brakes and stability control, but lacks in the airbags in offers. There are only side curtain airbags available with all of the GL Class trims. There are no optional safety features either.
