The car was first introduced in 2005 and it falls in the same range or category with other SUVs like the Mazda Tribute and Ford Escape. The car is the first car-based SUV product to be manufactured by Mercury and it was officially presented in about five countries which include the United States of America, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates. It is stated that the production of the car has been phased out since October 2010.
