2020 Renault Captur With Plug-In Hybrid Spied Testing In The Cold

The new 2020 Renault Captur crossover’s plug-in hybrid variant has been spotted winter testing. Scheduled to be sold starting 2020, it looks like Renault is on schedule to produce probably one of its best-selling vehicles.

Based on the latest spy shots, the latest Captur will adopt an evolutionary design though it brought the same shape, profile, and the brand’s signature grille to this camouflaged prototype. The new photos, however, revealed that the Captur crossover will have the new Clio-inspired front end.

Inside, the Renault Captur will carry the brand’s latest dashboard layout with a portrait-style touchscreen infotainment unit at the center. We expect to see more cabin space, too, both for the passengers and cargo since Renault is planning on making the Alliance B platform longer and wider. That should unlock more shoulder and leg room.

Since it was launched in 2013, the first-generation Captur was Renault’s third best-selling vehicle globally with 232,733 units making rounds in the world today. This next-generation Captur crossover has then a gigantic task to face: continue its role as a sales success for Renault when it goes on sale early next decade.

This will also be Renault’s first plug-in hybrid model that uses the technology outlined by former Renault CEO Carlos Ghosn during the 2018 Paris Motor Show.

For the new Captur’s plug-in hybrid engine, Renault is developing a system that will make use of Nissan’s 1.6-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine and an electric drive system. The electric motor will have a dual role, providing the petrol engine with additional torque and power and offering up to 30 miles on electric charge alone.

There are no technical specifications available yet for this plug-in hybrid system but Renault confirmed that the electric drive setup will carry a 9.8kWh battery. This same technology will be used in the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance for future cars.

2020 Range Rover Evoque Gets Starting Price of $43,645

We have been waiting for the day that the 2020 Range Rover Evoque will be introduced to American soil, and we finally had our wish granted during the 2019 Chicago Auto Show. Much more than seeing the Evoque, we now also have an idea of how much it will cost us to see one in our garage.

The base S P250 comes with a $43,645 price tag but with additional features. The tag can balloon to $57,845 for the First Edition model. The price of the base model is $850 more than the 2019 Evoque’s lowest priced variant.

All six trims are powered by the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine although they are offered in two different power outputs. The 2.0-liter in the Evoque S ($43,645), SE ($48,195), and limited First Edition ($57,845) makes 246 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque that makes its ways through a ZF-sourced nine-speed transmission.

The R-Dynamic S ($47,595), R-Dynamic SE ($52,145), and R-Dynamic HSE ($56,795) each have 296 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. They also come with mild hybridization and a 48-volt electric system.

The S P250 comes with the following features: 18-inch aluminum wheels, LED head- and taillights, proximity approach lighting, dual-zone automatic climate control, 10-way power-adjustable front seats with leather upholstery, 10-inch infotainment touchscreen with navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability, and low-speed automated emergency braking and lane-keeping assist.

The R-Dynamic S P300 adds metal sport pedal covers, chrome tread plates in doors, perforated leather steering wheel wrap, steering-wheel-mounted shift paddles, dark aluminum interior trim, and R-Dynamic exterior badging and burnished copper exterior accents.

The SE P250 includes these: 20-inch aluminum wheels, automatic high-beam headlamps with daytime running lights, power-operated rear liftgate, 14-way power-adjustable front seats with memory settings, Land Rover’s dual-screen Touch Pro Duo infotainment system, and 360-degree exterior camera system and automated parking.

The R-Dynamic SE P300 upgrades many features of the SE P250 with: rearview mirror with integrated rear camera display, power-operated rear liftgate with gesture recognition, 16-way power-adjustable front seats with Windsor leather upholstery, Meridian premium audio system, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control with traffic-jam assist, and high-speed automated emergency braking.

Finally, the First Edition P250 includes all the features that only come as options on other Evoques:, fixed-panel glass roof, headlamp washers, reconfigurable interior ambient lighting, illuminated tread plates in doors, power-adjustable steering column, 14-way heated and power-adjustable front seats with two-tone leather upholstery, heated steering wheel, head-up display, and 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster.

3 Things To Know About The Cadillac XT5 Sport Package

cadillac xt5 (1)

If you want your Cadillac XT5 to stand out, you may want to check out the XT5 Sport Package that Cadillac made available for the Luxury and Premium Luxury trims of the SUV. Priced at $1,995 and $2,995, respectively, the package will bring in a lot of cosmetics updates for what is already an aesthetically imposing SUV.

Darker Exterior

Look, you don’t have to buy the Sport Package unless you want your XT5 to be looked at under a different light. It brings nothing to the engine and there’s no exclusive body paint to speak of. What it does bring is a darker exterior packaging, which means LED headlights (that’s optional for the Luxury trim), taillights with clear lenses, a front grille with gloss black treatment, and a pair of side steps that should make climbing up and down the SUV a breeze. What stands out most in the package is the set of 20-inch aluminum wheels that feature a sleek Technical Grey finish.

Aluminum-Trimmed Interior

The XT5’s interior benefits from the package, too. The cabin is now dressed in aluminum trim no matter if you choose the entirely black upholstery or the one that combines Jet Black and Cirrus (a warm shade of blue, kinda like the shade of cirrus clouds). There are sport pedals, of course, but Cadillac forgot to upgrade its floor mats so you should look at your local car accessory shop for something that will complement the rest of the cabin.

No Engine Upgrade

It’s worth mentioning, of course, that you cannot expect the Sport Package to come with an upgrade for the Cadillac XT5’s engine. It’s still fitted with the same 3.6-liter V-6 engine that makes 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque. That power goes through an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends the signal to two front wheels. There’s an option for an all-wheel drive.
