New 296-HP 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan R Is Coming Soon

volkswagen tiguan r (1)

The 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan R is scheduled to be revealed later this year. This means the German company is constantly testing the car to prepare it for the release. Spy shots of the Tiguan R revealed a new performance SUV that used the same platform found in the recently-launched Cupra Ateca.

According to reports, the new Tiguan R will be powered by the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that makes 296 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque on the Ateca. That power will go through a seven-speed DSG to an all-wheel-drive configuration that allows the car to go 62 miles in around six seconds.

The test mule has the same R-Line version of the SUV, which means it will sport the model line’s front bumper, rear valance, and large rear spoiler. The only difference will lie on the twin-exit exhaust tips. Volkswagen may want to make the Tiguan R sportier before its big reveal but that’s all up in the air for now.

Other features that are to be expected are adaptive suspension, updated performance brakes, a choice of alloy wheels, and a sophisticated traction control system.

The cabin should also be similar to a Tiguan R-Line with a pair of leather-trimmed sports seats, a sports steering wheel, a panoramic sunroof, a digital instrument cluster, an eight-inch infotainment screen, and a premium audio system all coming as standard. Extras would be a tow-bar and three-zone climate control.

The Tiguan R is in line with Volkswagen’s plan to expand its SUV lineup. This new Tiguan R will follow the T-Roc R, a mini-performance SUV with the same 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show. The T-Roc R and the Tiguan R also have similar interior specifications.

We expect the Tiguan R’s debut before or during the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

Important Things To Know About The 2019 Bentley Bentayga Hybrid

2019 bentley bentayga hybrid (22)

The 2019 Bentley Bentayga Hybrid will signify the entrance of the luxury carmaker into the world of electrified cars as this happens to be the electrified version of the brand’s first-ever SUV. It is also Bentley’s first hybrid vehicle ever and the world’s first luxury SUV with an electrified powertrain.

The Bentayga Hybrid is identical to the regular Bentayga except for the additional fuel cap that’s allotted for the plug-in socket. The interior’s virtually the same, too, save for new tech and a revised infotainment system for hybrid duty.

Where the Bentayga Hybrid will be different is under the hood where the familiar W-12 and V-8 engines were replaced with a V-6 and an electric motor. The layout for the Bentley Bentayga (meaning, the use of a V-6 engine) is a first for a modern Bentayga. The drivetrain layout was borrowed from the Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid and soon, Bentley will be using it across its lineup, including the upcoming Flying Spur Hybrid.

The hybrid version of the Bentayga will produce 456 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. This is far from the impressive numbers that the regular Bentayga makes which is 600 and 542 horsepower for the W-12 and V-8 engines, respectively. In comparison, it generates an extra 27 horses than the diesel version.

The Bentayga Hybrid is quick as it can go 60 mph in just 5.2 seconds. It’s half-second slower compared to other SUVs but the Bentayga is larger both in size and weight. The top speed is limited to 158 mph, which is 10 mph slower than the diesel version and 29 mph slower than the W-12 engine.

Bentley boasts that the Hybrid can go 31 miles on electric charge alone, but that’s measly compared with most hybrid cars in the market. When you need to drive around the city, though, 31 miles can get you to where you need to go, so we guess that’s actually okay.

It will take 7.5 hours to charge the battery to full capacity if you use a domestic household socket. If you have an industrial connection at home, that can go down to just 2.5 hours.

3 Things We’re Expecting From The 2020 Hyundai Venue

Hyundai is set to unveil its newest entry-level SUV at the 2019 New York Auto Show next week. Called the Hyundai Venue, this crossover will slot below the Kona and will compete against the Kia Soul and the Nissan Kicks.

Hyundai released some sketches and teasers before the big reveal. The South Korean company described the Venue as a “great fit” for people with busy lifestyles as it combined “playful and practical features.”

Here are the things we found out about the Hyundai Venue based on its sketches:

Exterior

If you can remember the Carlino concept, that’s how the Venue’s rear end looks like. It has a boxy rear end with small taillights and a simple bumper rear. Though there were no spy shots of the profile, we can expect a boxy figure for the Venue based on the design of its rear end. This separates it from the coupe-like Kona.

The front end shares some styling directions with other Hyundai SUVs. It has split-headlamps like the Kona and the larger Palisade with big lights at the corners of the bumper and slimmer lights on the upper section of the grille.

Interior

The cabin looks clean, simple, and elegant. Many of the elements—lower center stack layout, the A/C vents, and the steering wheel—were taken from the Kona. The upper section of the dashboard looks to be a new design specifically for the Venue. The small infotainment display, however, is smacked in the middle of the A/C vents, which some pundits might not particularly like.

Drivetrain

The Venue is using the same underpinnings as the Kona. This makes it safe to assume that it’ll have the turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that can make 175 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. Also part of the lineup would be the naturally aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder and turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder—the same engines used by the Kia Soul.

New Nissan Frontier Pickup To Arrive In 2020

2017 Nissan Frontier

A new Nissan Frontier pickup is “almost finished,” Nissan senior vice president for global design Alfonso Albaisa said earlier this year. Back then, we have no idea just how near the Frontier is to being introduced or revealed. We have more details now and some of it will knock you off your feet.

According to a report on Automotive News, the new Frontier is expected to debut late in 2020 as a 2021 model. It will allegedly be based on the updated version of the current Frontier’s platform instead of the platform used on the Nissan Navara.

It is only right that Nissan starts to focus on its mid-size pickup since this segment has already become the hottest in America today. Last year, there was a 16-percent gain that resulted from more than half a million.

The Toyota Tacoma mainly dominates the market with some competition from the likes of Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon. The Ford Ranger and the Jeep Gladiator are also expected to increase sales in the coming years.

Nissan’s decision to stay with the Frontier’s platform instead of the new one they used on the Navara is a puzzle. Sources apparently told Automotive News that size and cost are the main factors that contribute to the decision. The current Navara’s five-link coil-spring rear suspension setup is more expensive to produce than the leaf springs used by the current Frontier. Nissan decided to focus on the low cost of entry as a unique selling point instead of a more modern design.

It might do Nissan good to offer the Navara with four full doors and a six-foot-long bed, though that configuration would probably cost more than the current pricing.

The Japanese automaker promises the new Frontier would still get a “futuristic” styling. It will get a new 3.0-liter V6 engine that produces 300 horsepower to replace the current truck’s 4.0-liter unit with only 261 horsepower. The automatic transmission will also be updated to a seven-speed stunner instead of the five-speed.
