After receiving the award and gaining recognition from the NAFTZ, BMW has made plans for expanding the plant further so that production and exports can rise even further.

BMW’s expansion plans include investing $900 million on the South Carolina plant and adding another model to the production department within the plant. The expansion process is expected to be complete by the year 2014. It is anticipated that the plant shall produce 3 million passenger cars every year with around 70% of this production being exported to international markets.
