Infiniti Project Black S is a Dual Hybrid Car

The Infiniti Project Black S just made its way at the 2018 Paris Auto Show. The car is unique in a way that it features a dual hybrid system.

A Look at the Dual Hybrid System

Before we proceed further, let’s discuss what Infiniti refers to as “dual hybrid”. Actually, it is derived from the system used by Formula 1 cars.

The dual hybrid system lets the Infiniti Project Black S recover electricity when it is braking and accelerating. There is a motor generator that is dedicated to that task. It also includes two electric motors that work hand-in-hand with the V6 engine of the car to collect heat from the dual turbo system. This, in turn, allows the turbines to spin faster and reduce turbo lag. The setup adds 120 kW to the drivetrain of the auto.

Sadly, the hybrid system of the auto was not made to please the tree-huggers out there. It’s only designed to boost the performance of the car.

The resulting output of the petrol-fed engine and electric motors is 563 hp. The numbers propel the 1,776 kg car from 0 to 62 mph in less than four seconds.

The Infiniti Project Black S uses the Q60 as a base car. The special model features a custom bonnet, bumpers, wheel arches, rear diffuser, and roof. These elements make use of carbon fiber materials to optimize the vehicle’s weight. Renault F1 livery-inspired lines adorn the bumpers, rear wing rims too.

Although not visible in the photos, the rear suspension and underfloor of the car were reworked as well. Meanwhile, carbon fiber brake discs and 21-inch forged wheels wrapped in sticky Pirelli tires help improve the performance of the auto.

Going inside, the Infiniti Project Black S comes with sports seats covered in black leather with yellow accents. There is also a control for the three driving modes of the car, namely the “Road”, “Quali” and “Race”.

Market Release

Those who are looking towards buying the Infiniti Project Black S in the market should not get their hopes up for now. Currently, the car is in its concept form. It is only a result of Infiniti and Renault Sport F1’s technical exercise.

Infiniti ensured that they will continue developing the car though.

3 Best Features of the Mercedes-AMG Project One

After much hype, the Mercedes-AMG Project One was introduced at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. The hypercar concept aims to bring Formula One technology into our roads.

1. Design

The Mercedes-AMG Project One concept borrowed many design elements from the hypercars of our generation. Its styling is reminiscent of the Pagani Huayra, but with a few cosmetic updates and aerodynamic upgrades.

The mid-engined hypercar integrates the Sensual Purity design philosophy of Mercedes. Compared to the Huayra, the Project One has smoother surfaces that give it a luxurious appeal, which is the signature of Mercedes cars, while retaining its very strong sporty presence.

The interior design of the Project One is a notch up from the sporty cabin of the Mercedes-AMG GT. The hypercar has a two-seating capacity. Its seats were made to resemble the sloping styling of the Mercedes AMG Petronas Silver Arrow F1 car’s seat. It has two screen displays too. The most noticeable element inside the car though is its steering wheel, which is heavily inspired by the one installed in the current Mercedes F1 racecar.

2. Power

The Project One is defined by its overwhelming output. According to Mercedes-Benz, it produces more than 1,000 hp, thanks to its hybrid setup. It is powered by a petrol-fed 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 engine and four electric motors. The electric motors are located in the turbocharger, engine, and one each on the front wheels. An automated 8-speed manual transmission governs the power of the car.

The engine of the vehicle has a rev that can reach up to 11,000 rpm. On the other hand, its electric motors on the front axle give it an additional 50,000 rpm and the shaft is capable of 100,000 rpm.

3. Performance

Mercedes claims that the setup of the Project One completely eliminates the dreaded turbo lag in cars. The resulting acceleration of the auto from zero to 200 km/h is only six seconds. Its top speed can go up to a whopping 350 km/h.

Aston Martin Vulcan Lands and Wows Everyone

You may want to change your laptop and phone wallpapers now with the Aston Martin Vulcan as it lands to wow just about every living thing on the planet.

But, of course, if you’re one of the 24 lucky customers who managed to shell out £1.8 million for Aston’s 820 bhp, 7.0-liter V12-engined ode to the tracks, then you’ll get a firsthand experience on how to maneuver the Vulcan.

Hold still, though, the company just doesn’t hand you over the keys to this kind of powerful machine. It teaches you to fall into it by tutoring you how to handle the Aston martin V12 Vantage S and the Vantage GT4 racer first.

The first set of customers has undergone the same process, the company said, which took place at Abu Dhabi’s Formula One circuit. Each driver was given a passenger-side instruction to learn each lap. They were tested day and night to experience the car in different conditions.

The Aston Martin Vulcan is basically a high-end machine created for thrill-seeking billionaires. And although it is prudent to talk about the car’s oil system, it is also worth noting that the Vulcan has a plug-and-play lubrication system, making it possible to do a full oil change in 10 seconds.

Fraser Dunn, chief engineer of Aston’s Aston’s Q Advanced Operations Center in Wellingsbourne, England, said that Castrol’s Nexcel system was used in the Vulcan. The system is a box that includes both oil and filter elements to effective act as reservoir for a dry-sump lubrication system.

It allows the machine to offer a mess-free oil change by simply removing a Nexcel unit and putting in a new one. The system cuts maintenance times, especially since a car like this can be stored for extended periods between runs in the tracks.

Only 24 of these track-exclusive machines were released to adventure-lover billionaires, so seeing one on a track is a sure way to get your blood pumping.
