Pagani Huayra Bids Farewell As It Enters Final Production Phase

pagani huayra

The final Pagani Huayra coupe is entering production, which means this would be the last time we’re going to see an inch of the sports car. The Italian luxury carmaker will finish the final iteration of the Huayra in about two months, reports from duPont Registry said recently.

This final car is the 100th example of the Huayra. Yes, there’s exactly 100 Huayras out there. You just don’t know it since these are obviously owned by the rich and famous. Like the previous 99 models, the final Huayra will feature a Mercedes-AMG built 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-12 engine that produces 700 horsepower and 811 pound-feet of torque.

It makes sense for Pagani to end the coupe’s run after seven years. Pagani inked an agreement for the supply of AMG engines for just 100 units, which signals this 100th example of the Huayra. Remember that the first supercar was launched in 2011 as a follow-up to the equally capable Zonda.

The final Huayra, marking the last AMG unit to be delivered from the German automaker, will be called the “Il Ultimo.” This will be especially produced and dedicated to Brett David, the chief executive officer of Prestige Imports. As such, it will have a “German flare” in honor of the hypercar’s AMG-sourced engine.

To further bring acknowledgement to its German roots, the final Huayra will bear the livery colors on Lewis Hamilton’s F1 car, a Mercedes. On the Huayra, the color scheme is stunning and jaw-dropping. It used subdued gray as the primary hue and turquoise-aqua will be used for interior striping, the mirrors, and the tire sidewalls. The interior will receive a similar treatment. Turquoise and gray colors will cover the dashboard, the doors, and the center console. The seats will be covered in white leather.

Pagani CEO and founder Horacio Pagani made it clear that Pagani is going to continue. It’s just the Huayra that’s going to make its farewell. The car’s successor will “embody pure driving,” will not rely on electrification, and will still have a manual transmission.

6 Important Things To Know About The 2018 Jaguar F-Pace SVR

Jaguar’s first SUV is getting a special treatment from JLR’s performance and customization division, the Special Vehicle Operations (SVO). The Jaguar F-Pace SVR debuted at the New York International Auto Show last week and showed tremendous potential as a sports car performance in a practical SUV design.

1. Exterior

The F-Pace grabbed both the World Car of the Year and World Car Design of the Year awards in 2017, which proved that Ian Callum is the “king” in SUV design. Callum is the same person behind the designs of the Aston Martin Vanquish, Jaguar C-X75, and the Jaguar F-Type.

The SVR model adds aggression and power to its looks, thanks to an aero package, a unique bumper, a new hood, larger fender vents, and a unique set of lightweight forged alloy wheels measuring 21 inches.

2. Interior

The F-Pace SVR has a sleek but simple interior. It starts with a quilted upholstery with the embossed SVR logo on the heavily bolstered sport seats. Top-shelf materials are used in every inch of the cabin, including the new pistol-style shifter knob, an SVR-specific steering wheel with soft-touch upholstery wrappings and aluminum paddle shifters.

3. Drivetrain

The F-Pace SVR received a huge power boost because of its supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 that can now produce 550 ponies and 502 pound-feet of torque. It has an active and lightweight exhaust system that helps power the car to 176 mph top speed. It can go 0 to 60 mph in just 4.1 seconds. The F-Pace SVR is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

4. Chassis And Handling

The F-Pace SVR used the same iQ-Al modular platform as the regular F-Pace. This is the same one used on the Jaguar XE, the second-generation Jaguar XF, and the next-generation Jaguar XJ, not to mention the Range Robert Velar SUV. Thanks to this platform, the F-Pace SVR has a lightweight aluminum body that makes it easier for driver to handle it.

5. Prices

The SVR variant will start at $79,990 and orders will start this summer.

6. Competition

The main competitor of the F-Pace SVR is the Porsche Macan Turbo, which is rocking a twin-turbo V-6 that produces a whopping 400 horsepower after it has been paired with a 7-speed transmission and high-performance AWD system. The price for the Porsche starts at $77,200.

2019 Hyundai Genesis G70 Will Come With Manual Transmission Option

2019 genesis g70

The upcoming 2019 Hyundai Genesis G70 compact sports sedan will come with a manual transmission option, a representative for the South Korean automaker said. Genesis is Hyundai’s standalone luxury brand.

This manual transmission option has just placed the G70 in a segment that has increasingly become lacking of options that would allow you to “row your own” vehicle. Kevin Smith, Genesis’ spokesman, said in a report by The Car Connection that the 6-speed manual gearbox will be paired with the G70’s standard 2.0-liter turbo-4. There are no details though on the pricing of these different trim levels.

It is further revealed that the G70’s manual option is only for purists, which means those who can handle the turbo-4 and a rear-wheel drive. On the other hand, the more powerful 3.3-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine will be exclusive with the 8-speed automatic that will be optional with the turbo-4.

It’s in the fuel economy that will suffer, apparently. The rear-wheel-drive G70 will be powered by the 2.0-liter inline-4 with manual transmission. That has an EPA rating of 18 mpg city, 28 highway, and 22 combined. Compare that to the 22/30/25 mpg for the G70 with an automatic transmission, the turbo-4, and rear-wheel drive, and the manual option surely did a take a lot of hit.

The rest of the lineup will have these ratings: 21/28/23 mpg for the turbo-4, the 8-speed automatic, and the all-wheel drive, 18/26/21 mpg for the optional V-6, and 18/25/20 mpg for the V-6 and all-wheel drive.

The G70 will probably make its debut this early 2018 as a 2019 model, so that should come anytime soon. As for the prices, though there is no official word yet, it will probably be in the $30,000 bracket.

Aside from the Hyundai Genesis G70, other luxury models from other brands offering manual transmission are the Cadillac ATS, Audi A4, and BMW 3-Series.

Top 4 Things About The 2018 Land Rover Range Rover Sports Coupe

land rover

Spy shots revealed more than what we expected for the 2018 Land Rover Range Rover Sports Coupe. The sloped roof clearly seen on the spy shots is reminiscent of what BMW has done on most of its SUVs.

Although the Land Rover already has the Range Rover Evoque Coupe in its lineup, that didn’t stop the British automaker’s plans to introduce a second coupe-like SUV. For now, it’s codenamed the L560, but we all know it’s going to be called the Range Rover Sports Coupe after the more on-road-oriented Range Rover Sport.

1. No Third-Row Seating

Those who are wishing that Land Rover will come out with a seven-seater SUV will need to mend their broken hearts again. Although the looks of the Range Rover Sports Coupe is not far off from the conventional Range Rover Sport, we can already see that the roof is seated much lower. With that low sloping orientation, don’t expect this SUV to have a third row for the sixth and seventh passenger.

2. Platform Is Similar To Jaguar F-Pace

Though the Range Rover Sports Coupe will be longer than the Jaguar F-Pace, it will use the same aluminum-intensive platform we have seen on the Jag. Why the larger size, you ask? The Range Rover Sports Coupe aims to bridge the wide gap between the Range Rover Evoque and the Range Rover Sport in the luxury-oriented lineup.

Apparently, the Range Rover Sports Coupe will be competing with the BMW X6 and the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe.

3. Four Powertrains To Be Available

For now, we’re pretty sure that the Range Rover Sports Coupe will be offered with an inline-4 and a 6-cylinder. But it’s also possible that at least in the United States, a new inline unit would be made available as a standard option. There are also talks that it will eventually offer an electric option similar to what Jaguar will be using for the I-Pace.

Here are photos showing the front, side and rear of the 2018 Land Rover Range Rover Sports Coupe from Motor Authority:
