Nissan Rogue SUV Review

The 2012 Nissan Rogue SUV stands out from the crowd of small crossover utility vehicles with sharp exterior styling, a refined interior and agile handling of the road, with dynamics akin to that of a compact sedan. The cabin has an upscale feel with high quality materials shown in the doors, dashboard, seats and interior details while the exterior sports a distinctive design of a less conservative nature.
The 2012 Nissan Rogue SUV comes in two trim levels. The S trim level is the base model and has standard features that include cruise control, a steering wheel that tilts, 16-inch steel wheels, side mirrors that fold, full power accessories, air conditioning and an audio system with four speakers and CD player. A Special Edition package for the Nissan Rogue SUV S trim level adds fog lights, 16-inch alloy wheels, rear privacy glass, a rearview camera and an upgraded audio system with interfaces for the iPod and a USB port, satellite radio and audio controls on the steering wheel. The SV trim level of the Nissan Rogue SUV includes most of the features and adds upgraded upholstery, keyless ignition and entry, 17-inch alloy wheels, a driver seat with six power adjustments and power lumbar support and a front passenger seat that folds down. Options for the vehicle include such items as automatic headlights, a navigation system with a 5-inch touchscreen display and traffic update in real-time, 18-inch alloy wheels, leather upholstery and a Bose premium audio system.
The engine in the Nissan Rogue SUV is a 2.5 liter four-cylinder that can produce 170 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque. Standard is a continuously variable transmission with options for front- or all-wheel drive. Fuel economy for the front-wheel drive version is rated somewhat less at 22 mpg in the city, 28 mpg on the highway and 25 mpg combined and the all-wheel drive version is rated at 22 mpg in the city, 26 mpg on the highway and 24 mpg combined. The Nissan Rogue SUV can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 8.6 seconds which is good for this class of compact crossover vehicles.
The Nissan Rogue SUV seats five passengers in a pleasant cabin that features comfortable seats, controls that are easy to use and high quality materials. The only drawback is that the rear seats do not slide from front to back or recline, detracting from some of their versatility. The cargo capacity with all seats upright is 28.9 cubic feet and increases to 58.7 cubic feet when the rear seats are folded down. However, with the ability of the passenger seat to fold down as well, another 8.5 cubic feet of space is added enabling long items like ladders, lumber and skis to be transported easily.
The drive of the Nissan Rogue SUV is better than that of many other SUVs in its class with handling capabilities that are similar to a car. It can easily absorb bumps in the road and other imperfections and is extremely stable on the highway aided by a high-quality steering system and good body control. The four-cylinder engine seems to handle all the vehicle's driving requirements with ease.
