Performance

Is the huge jump in price from the V6 up to the V8 in the 2013 Porsche Cayenne GTS worth it? Well, once you drive both, it will be hard to settle for a V6, even if it means paying nearly double!

Zero to 60 mph is achieved in a brisk 5.4 seconds, due to the 420 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque produced by its 4.8-liter V8 engine. It features VarioCam Plus, direct fuel-injection and an eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission with an automatic start/stop feature.

The GTS is an on-demand four-wheel drive, which means that when you need it, it’s ready. Of course, four-wheel drive and a powerful engine comes with a price; poor fuel-economy, as it returns only 15 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway.

The 2013 GTS is a treat to drive, as you would expect. The cabin is quiet, steering is responsive and the ride is smooth as can be due to an air suspension that works independently at all four wheels.

Technology

• Audio: A 7-inch touchscreen color display is integrated with the CDR audio system. It includes 10 speakers, MP3 compatible CD player and radio with double tuner.
• Bluetooth: Keep your hands on the wheel with Bluetooth, allowing you to receive, send and end calls through voice recognition.
• Universal Remote: Why carry several remotes on your visor or in your glove box? All you need is this one universal remote.

Although the GTS does not have as many standard features as some other trims, it does offer a long list of optional ones, such as Porsche Communicative Management, BOSE surround system, electronic logbook, wireless internet access, rear seat entertainment, SiriusXM radio, voice control and online services.

Safety

Between the Porsche Side Impact Protection, thoughtfully placed airbags and a world-renowned braking system, you are pretty much covered in the safety department. Although crash tests are rarely ever performed on vehicles of this price, one can only expect that results would be impressive. Just a few of the many standard safety features on the GTS include:

• Antilock brakes
• Porsche Stability Management
• Antitheft alarm
• Child seat anchors
• Tire pressure monitoring
• Rear door safety locks
• Emergency braking preparation
• Electronic brakeforce distribution
• Dusk sensing headlamps
• Engine immobilizer

Appearance

What’s not to love about the exterior of the GTS? It comes in the standard seven metallic colors plus Peridot Metallic and Carmine Red for this trim. If that’s not enough, there are 10 wheel choices to chooce from, starting at 18 inches and going up to 21 inches. This vehicle is modern with aerodynamic styling, including a sloped roof and rear tailgate. Body colored mirrors and door handles offer a harmonious look.

Comfort

Although the GTS only offers seating for five, it does it with style. Choose from standard or two-toned leather with detailed stitching to complement the high-quality materials used throughout the cabin. An abundance of legroom is provided to both front and rear seat passengers and both seats are equally as comfortable.

When you slip behind the wheel, you know you are in a luxury vehicle. You are surrounded by exquisite styling and although there are an abundance of controls, they are thoughtfully placed.

Cargo

With the rear seat in place, the GTS gives you 23.7 cubic feet of cargo space. If you need more room, all you have to do is fold the rear seat down and you are awarded with 62.9 cubic feet.
