Saab SUV

The Saab SUV is an interesting approach to joining the ranks of auto makers that bring sport utility into a new light. The Saab 9-7X is the first in the line up of Saab SUVs, with a second release model due to come in the summer of 2011. When you're looking for a unique model with the overall Saab experience, the SUV might offer you the various components that pull together the perfect combination of sport utility and personal function. Since the 1990s Saab has shared half of its interest with GM, and the effects of the remodeling showed specifically on the SUV.

The initial release of the Saab SUV left some consumers scratching their heads. While the outer shell read Saab, the inner core didn't feel much like a Saab at all. This is because it wasn't. Using the basic characteristics that make the distinctive Saab vehicle stand out (floor mounted ignition and identifying grill) the rest of the SUV was a GM creation. The standing on the line of luxury SUV models left the Saab SUV out in the cold. For luxury, most consumers turned toward some of the more characteristically reliable manufacturers like Lincoln or Acura.

Leather seating and heated front seats are the standard on the 9-7X. There is a conspicuous lack of a turbocharged engine, which has always been a hallmark of Saab. The Saab SUV seats 5 passengers. With only two rows of seating the 9-7X is considered to be under developed in passenger and cargo room. Performance factors, however, are considerable. Road handling and that fun to drive touch are still fully intact.

The transition of the Saab to GM was eliminated as the company sold this portion of their overall line up to a company in Denmark. Spyker Cars took over the production of the Saab SUV and gave the new soon-to-be-released SUV a makeover. The Saab SUV 9-4X is the 2012 model that should be released in the summer of 2011.

With the redesigned styling and the various return to true Saab characteristics the 9-4X is expected to be much more along the lines of what the consumer would expect in a luxury Saab SUV. While the release details have yet to be confirmed there will be a much more user friendly, Saab likeness to the new SUV. Cargo room and passenger seating is expected to be completely overhauled and the interior will not be in the same traditional standards as GM.

As luxury SUVs tend to be either totally refined or mocked based on the name plate, there is a great amount of curiosity building for the release of the new Saab model. Hopefully, without the GM force to detail the design work the true character of the vehicle will be molded into what a Saab really should be. With new designers, new outlooks, and new ideas on creating more powerful and user friendly SUVs, the new Saab is bringing a lot more to the table than before. With the new release comes a new generation of SUVs starting under the Saab logo.
