With most American manufacturers moving to shift their production to compact vehicles to satisfy the demands of the credit crunch and the environmentalists, the 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid is unabashed and unchanged from 2007 and offers a compromise to those who need a big truck with good fuel economy. The current Chevrolet Tahoe is already fuel efficient (best in class) for its size with 15mpg city, 21mpg highway. The improvement in fuel efficiency Chevy promises with Tahoe Hybrid will be especially evident in city driving, where Tahoe's Active Fuel Management and two-mode hybrid technology should produce around 21mpg (approx 30% improvement). The Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid 1HY 2WD is well-equipped safety-wise with driver and front passenger air bags, side head curtain air bags, and a roll-over sensor all as standard. The hybrid uses EVT (electrically variable transmission) which has two drive modes.
