The Chevrolet Traverse LS FWD crossover utility vehicle is Chevrolet’s latest attempt to combine the smooth ride and neat handling of a sedan with the cargo capability and high seating position of a traditional truck-based sport utility vehicle. It has nicely appointed interior features with two front bucket seats and many different seating configurations for the rear and third row seats, with room for up to eight passengers. An efficient, direct injection 3.6-liter V6 engine that generates up to 281 horsepower is mated with a six-speed automatic transmission with overdrive and tap-shift manual controls. The Traverse comes in three trim levels: the LS, the LT and the LTZ. Each trim is available in front-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive. An extensive list of safety features come standard; these include: air bag protection for all eight passengers, anti-lock brakes, and electronic traction and stability control. This is a good looking vehicle from almost all angles; it has that sleekness of a compact crossover along with the durable, ruggedness of an SUV. The standard equipment list is quite generous, however, rear parking sensors are optional and we would advise all buyers to pay the extra as rear vision is limited in this vehicle. The Chevrolet Traverse LS is a decent alternative to full size truck based SUVs.
