Chrysler PT Cruiser

Review

The 2009 model range Chrysler PT Cruiser no longer features the high-performance GT models. This retro-styled compact SUV is a five-passenger 4-door wagon and convertible. Chrysler PT Cruiser Wagons comes in base, touring, and limited trims. All PT Cruisers have a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine. Base and Touring versions have just 150 hp which makes for sedate progress, but the limited models are turbocharged and have 180 HP. Manual or automatic transmission is offered on 150-hp Chrysler PT Cruiser Base models and although the auto box makes for an easier life, it really saps the power of a vehicle that is already underpowered. A full range of safety features are available including ABS, traction control, and front side airbags. We were expecting an all new Chrysler PT Cruiser Base for 2009 but it looks as if the new model has been put back to 2009/2010 - a reflection of the hard times auto manufacturers are having. All Chrysler PT Cruiser have a decent ride and absorb bumps well. The Chrysler PT Cruiser Base models (which don't feature the stiffer suspension found on other models) have good grip in turns but fast corners induce noticeable body lean. Generally speaking a quiet and refined car as long as you keep the speed down, the engines refinements becomes lacking in the higher rev ranges.
