Dodge Durango

Review

Though the Dodge Durango SE 4X2 is officially classed as a mid size SUV, in typical Dodge fashion, its designers have made it about 50% larger than others in the class. They say this is in order to fill the gap between the mid size SUV and full-size SUV classes. Have Dodge invented their own niche here, the 3/4 size sports utility vehicle? Dodge hope that the Dodge Durango SE 4X2 will appeal to customers who currently drive compact SUVs or crossovers but would like some more space or pulling power. The extra size of the Dodge Durango SE 4X2 really makes a difference to interior space. You get a comfortable and well equipped interior that can be specified with up to 3 rows of seats. This is really as big as most families would need, whether its for camping trips or towing a boat/camper. The downside to the increased size over the car based crossover is increased appetite for fuel. Three engines are offered - a 210-horsepower V6, a 303-HP V8 and a 330-HP Hemi V8. All models come with automatic transmission as standard (4 speed for V6, 5 speed for V8). The Dodge Durango SE 4X2 has always been big for its class, in fact at its launch in 1998, many of its competitors were little more than jacked up station wagons in comparison.
