The Dodge Durango line-up has never had a hybrid model, amazingly now, in its final year of production, it produces a new gas/electric Hybrid model! The Dodge Durango Hybrid Limited 4X4 is a traditional truck-size SUV and offers seating for up to 8 people. It is available in SE, SLT, and limited trims. The Hybrid models are all AWD and are not offered with low-range gearing. Maximum towing capacity is 6000lb for the Hybrid models (2000lb less than conventional models). The Dodge Durango Hybrid Limited 4X4 is powered by a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 that works in conjunction with a battery-powered electric motor. It can run on either gas or electric power or both, depending on the situation. The Hybrid gets a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) unlike the rest of the range which use conventional 5-speed automatic. A full range of safety features are offered such as front, side and curtain air bags, ABS, traction control and anti skid system. Considering it is the end of the model year and an all new replacement for the Dodge Durango will be on sale next year, expect some great discounts and incentives on this 2009 model.
