Ford Escape Hybrid

Review

If you are the sort of person who wants to drive a cool SUV without high running costs then the Ford Escape Hybrid FWD could be the vehicle for you. 32mpg from a car this size is good mileage indeed. First introduced a few years ago the current model has received a few upgrades along the way to make it an even better ownership proposition. For example Ford's "synch control" is now available and stability control is standard. However, even taking the hybrid technology into account, the Ford Escape Hybrid FWD is not cheap - similar sized traditional (non hybrid) SUVs are thousands of dollars cheaper, which means that after deducting any Federal grants it may still take 6-10 years to break even on the extra cost of the hybrid technology. If you spend a lot of time in slow moving city traffic or snarled up in traffic jams at rush hour, it is worth it however. So choosing the hybrid model over the standard Escape really comes down to personal preferences. You won’t save money with the hybrid (or at least not for a few years) but it may make you feel more responsible and caring towards the environment.
