The 2009/2009 Ford Explorer Sport Trac XLT 4.0L 4X2 is basically an Explorer with a pick-up bed. This configuration of the midsize SUV-pickup provides a versatile cargo space (takes 37.5 cu. ft.) along with all the traditional Explorer features. The cargo bed also features a convenient underfloor, waterproof, secure space for tools and equipment. The Ford Explorer Sport Trac XLT is a four-door, five-passenger, midsize pickup available with rear-wheel, four-wheel, or all-wheel drive. It is powered by a 210 hp 4.0-liter V6 engine mated to an excellent five-speed automatic transmission. The Ford Explorer Sport Trac XLT is loaded with safety features such as Advance Trac Roll Stability Control, tire pressure monitoring, anti lock brakes, and front, side, and side-curtain airbags, all as standard. Ford's industry exclusive new Sync hands-free communications and entertainment multimedia system is also an option. For 2009, the Ford Explorer Sport Trac has no major revisions, but there have been minor updates to the interior and some modified options packages in an attempt to rationalise the range. One useful option is the cargo bed extender which can be used to increase cargo space by an additional 6 cu. ft. or simply to extend the load area to carry longer items in complete safety.
