Ford SUVs 2010

The Ford story is perhaps the most famous of all manufacturers, words and phrases like "Model T" and "you can have it in any colour as long as it's black" (however apparently Henry Ford never actually said this!) have been indelibly formed in our minds. The meteoric rise of Ford from its beginnings in 1903 to become the biggest auto maker in the U.S by 1906 is legendary. Ford have never been afraid to invest in new technology and the Ford Motor Company's Scientific Research Laboratory is over 50 years old (established 1951). Although Ford have failed to retain their huge market share over recent years (now down to 14.2% at end of 2007 and still dropping), Ford are still a major force in the auto industry and with recent and proposed new model launches they are hoping to expand market share in 2008/2009. Today the Ford motor company also owns Lincoln, mercury, Mazda and Volvo. The existing Ford SUV line up consists of Edge, Escape, Expedition, Expedition EL and Explorer - Ford seem to like the letter "E" when it comes to their SUV models! Ford has made hybrid technology available in the new Escape which places it on the on the "Greener Choices list" compiled by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy.
