Honda Element

Review

The Honda Element LX is a vehicle designed from the outset for practicality, with little regard for making a fashion statement. This minimalist approach to car design is applauded by some, derided by others. But there is no getting around the fact this car is practical. One of the main reasons for this vehicles practicality is the shape; it's a box on wheels! The other reason for its practicality is of course clever use of interior space. Fitted with a 2.4L, 166-horsepower four-cylinder engine standard, in front-wheel drive trim only, with five-speed manual transmission, the Honda Element LX 2WD has over 64 possible interior seating configurations, with access to the rear made easy by the large openings that are created when the side doors are opened and the two-piece clamshell tailgate. With a high ceiling and completely flat floor the immediate feeling inside the Element is one of spaciousness. At first glance, you wonder how there can be so much room in a small vehicle. A full range of safety kit is present and correct with dual-stage, dual-threshold front airbags, front side airbags (mounted on the seats to ensure correct placement at all times), and full-length side curtain airbags with a rollover sensor. Unlike Honda's sportier models, the Honda Element LX has useful low range torque and is easy to drive. A useful, reasonably economical and versatile mode of family transport.
