HUMMER H2 Review

In an effort to broaden the appeal of the Hummer brand, GM took the rugged, macho looks of the original Hummer and repackaged them in a more user friendly package (i.e. small enough to fit on roads!). This was the origin of the H2. For 2009, Hummer made a few revisions - the cheap looking plastic interior has been redesigned using upmarket soft touch plastics and some alloy inserts, the seats are more comfortable and power and torque have increased (an extra 68HP and 50lb-ft of torque). All of these changes add up to a more refined and able SUV, however, some things have not changed such as the steering and handling on-road which are still way off the pace compared to other luxury SUVs. Although the interior is improved, it somehow lacks the spacious feel of many rivals, despite the fact that the H2, although much smaller than the original Hummer, is still a large SUV. One area where the Hummer excels is of course off-road. The all terrain performance of the H2 is superb, putting many SUVs to shame. Standard equipment is generous also, but then again it should be with a list of over $50k!
