The Hyundai Tucson GLS 2.0 2WD for 2009 is a 5 seater mid-size SUV. It is an entry level model, equipped with a 2.0L, 140 HP engine that will return 20 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the open road. A 5-speed manual transmission is standard, with a 4-speed automatic transmission as an option. This 4 cylinder base model is fine for the urban commute, but is only adequate for highway driving, lacking the power reserves for confident passing. The ride again is about average for the class, being stable and comfortable, however it can be unsettled on patchy roads. The Hyundai Tucson is not as accomplished as its big bother the Santa Fe. Refinement is not a strong point, the 4 cylinder engine can become coarse on anything over a light throttle opening and there is persistent road noise and tire roar. Interior space and comfort is good, but taller drivers would do well to avoid optional sunroof as this reduces headroom considerably. The Hyundai Tucson GLS 2.0 2WD is easy to convert to cargo carrying role, the seats fold without having to remove headrests and cargo space is good. To sum up the Tucson is a good value SUV with plenty of space backed up by excellent warranties and good reliability ratings.
