The Hyundai Veracruz GLS is the largest SUV produced by Hyundai. It is powered by a 260HP 3.8L V6 engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission as standard and available in 2 or 4 wheel drive, with a maximum towing capacity for all models of 3500lbs. It seats 7 with a third row of seats folding flat into the floor when not in use. The Hyundai Veracruz has adequate power in all driving situations but is hardly exciting, and despite the engines power, the weight of the Veracruz blunts the performance. This also has an effect on fuel economy with a disappointing return of 16mpg city/23mpg highway. The Veracruz rides smoothly and quietly on most road surfaces but gets uncomfortable over rough terrain. The Hyundai Veracruz is easy to drive with light steering and brakes, but does not like to be hustled along at speed; pronounced body lean and vague steering will soon have you taking your foot off the gas. However, it drives in a more relaxed manner and the Veracruz is impressively refined and comfortable. In terms of safety, the Veracruz received top 5 star ratings in all crash tests except the roll-over tests where it was awarded 4 stars by the NHTSA. The warranties offered by Hyundai are fantastic - Powertrain warranty of 10yrs/100,000miles and a "bumper to bumper" warranty of 5yrs/6,000 miles. A solid large SUV choice for those who want fuss free motoring with no unexpected bills.
