Jeep Liberty

Review

The Jeep Liberty Sport (Jeep Cherokee outside USA) 4X2 is totally revised for 2009. It is a bigger vehicle overall and retains the excellent off road manners with a smoother on road ride. It uses the familiar 3.7L 210HP V6 (found in the Commander and Grand Cherokee) and unusually for this class, a 5 speed manual gearbox as standard. A four speed automatic box is available as an option, but with most of the competition offering five or even six speed boxes, this feels somewhat old fashioned. The "Sport" model comes with cloth upholstery, A/C, adjustable steering wheel, 60/40 split folding rear seats, power mirrors, locks and windows, remote keyless entry, AM/FM/CD/MP3/WMA stereo with four speakers and auxiliary input jack, anti-lock brakes with brake assist, hill start assist, traction control, and electronic stability control with roll-over mitigation as standard. For small families who tow boats or trailers the Jeep Liberty Sport is a good choice - roomy, comfortable and with a high towing limit of 5000lbs (and a clever trailer sway control system as an option). Another popular option is the "Popular Equipment Package" which includes a fold-flat front passenger seat, upgraded floor mats, a cargo cover, and a 115-volt power outlet at the rear of the console.
