Jeep SUVs 2010

Jeep is the oldest 4WD (SUV) automobile marquee and has a solid brand image that many other manufacturers covet. The original Jeep was the primary 4 wheel drive vehicle of the American military during World War II. The origins of the name "Jeep" are often cited as coming from the terms "GP- general purpose", phonetically "GeePee". The Jeep also has historic ties with Hummer (formerly Humvee) - back in 1971, the American Motors Corporation owned both Jeep and AM General (the owners of the Humvee). Despite the solid and unbreakable image, the Jeep warranty is basic, a simple 3 year/36,000 mile vehicle warranty - this lags behind many other manufacturers. One area where Jeep gains credibility for the strength of their vehicles is in the crash test results. Every current Jeep model has a solid 5 out of 5 rating for both frontal and side impact ratings. Jeep today is owned by Chrysler and although Chrysler is suffering from declining sales as a group the Jeep brand sales are increasing and have largely been responsible for Chrysler posting small increases in overall market share in recent years. The current Jeep SUV line up includes Commander, Compass, Grand Cherokee, Liberty, Patriot, Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited.
