Kia SUVs 2010

The Kia Motors Corporation is another serious contender from South Korea. It started as a steel tubing and bicycle parts manufacturer back in 1944. The company has evolved since then into manufacturing passenger cars, recreation vehicles (SUVs) and commercial vehicles. Kia have stated that their goal is to provide quality motor vehicles at prices below that of the competition while offering superior customer service. It seems to be working as global vehicle sales in 2007 hit 1,269,164. Research and development of new technologies is a major factor in Kia's success - in 2007 they built a 22 acre Research and Development Project in Orange County. In 2008, Kia hit a major milestone in terms of penetration into the North American market; they hit a 6% market share and actually overtook Nissan. The Kia SUV range for 2008/2009 model years includes the Carens, Sedona, Sportage, Sorento and the new Borrego - a midsize SUV, but larger than other Kia SUV's, powered by a six-cylinder engine or an optional V-8, designed to compete head on with competitors such as the Ford Explorer, Chevrolet TrailBlazer, Nissan Pathfinder, Toyota 4Runner, Honda Pilot, and the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
