The 2009 model Mazda Tribute Hybrid Touring HEV 2WD is the most recent addition to the Mazda SUV line-up. It has all the same features as the regular Mazda Tribute - with the exception of electric motors to increase fuel economy and reduce emissions. This is a mid sized hybrid SUV that seats 5. Mazda vehicles are known for dependable performance with excellent results in reliability surveys. The Mazda Tribute Hybrid has fuel efficiency ratings comparable to other small to mid-size hybrid SUVs such as the Ford Escape Hybrid, attaining EPA figures of 30/34 mpg city/highway. This makes the Mazda Tribute Hybrid a sensible choice for those who need the flexibility of an SUV without paying too much for gas or doing too much harm to the environment. There are two levels of trims available, the Touring and Grand Touring, both available in 2 or 4 wheel drive. The Tribute HEV is capable of cruising at speeds of up to 25 miles per hour using its electric motors alone - that means zero fuel consumption and emissions in slow moving traffic. Daily commuting in rush hour traffic is an ideal environment for the Tribute Hybrid. The Mazda Tribute Hybrid also uses a conventional 2.3L 133hp engine at high speeds and when rapid acceleration is required, both electric and gas motors are used.
