Mercury Mariner Hybrid

Review

The Mercury Mariner Hybrid FWD is a compact SUV that shares the same platform as the Ford Escape. It features a smooth CVT (continuously variable transmission) and seamless changes between gasoline and electric drive. The driving experience is similar to the conventional Mariner, with the addition of near silent motion while in slow moving stop/start traffic (when the electric motor is providing 100% of drive) and of course, much improved fuel consumption. The combination of compact size and hybrid technology means that over 30mpg can be achieved in mixed driving. All 2009 Mercury Mariner models have been revised to decrease noise and vibration - these revisions have worked well with little road, tire or engine noise entering the cabin - even at freeway speeds. The interior has also been revised and, although a marked improvement over outgoing model, still trails the quality of Japanese competition. A full complement of safety equipment is present with front, side and curtain airbags. It is also worth noting that you may qualify for a federal income tax credit of $3,000 on Mariner Hybrid FWD if you meet the requirements.
