Suzuki actually started out as a weaving loom manufacturer in 1909, the founder Michio Suzuki then branched into car manufacturing in 1937. Today, Suzuki manufactures cars, SUVs, motorcycles, outboard motors and ATVs (all terrain vehicles). In June of this year, Suzuki (along with Subaru, Hyundai and Kia) achieved record levels of U.S. market share. A 0.83% market share may not sound much but that is a 50% increase in just 6 months. Suzuki, like other Japanese and Korean manufacturers, has benefited from recent gas price hikes and growing concern over global warming. The Suzuki SUV range is compact, with even the largest model, the XL 7, being just a mid-sized 5 seater SUV. The other models are the SX-4 and the Grand Vitara. Although generally a reliable brand, it is worth noting that Suzuki is the least reliable Japanese marquee, however it is still generally more reliable than many American and European brands - (according to surveys carried out by J.D. Power and associates). Suzuki's warranty is a standard 3yrs/36,000 miles limited warranty with roadside assistance and courtesy vehicle program. Additionally they also offer a 100,000-mile/7-year powertrain limited warranty which is transferable to new owners. Suzuki leads the way in terms of environmental performance. Every single Suzuki model sold in the U.S.A. has an "above average" EPA rating, with some models classed as "superior".
