Reviews & Ratings for Citroen SUVs

Citroen SUV Review

Just because not everyone is familiar with the lineup of Citroen SUVs for 2013 does not mean that there are not some exceptional ones available. Citroen is only available in certain parts of the world, which is unfortunate because a lot of consumers in other areas would be interested in what they have to offer. This French automaker has long been respected for their cars and commercial vans, and in recent years, they have become a true competitor in the SUV market as well.

Citroen SUV Reviews

Just because not everyone is familiar with the lineup of Citroen SUVs for 2013 does not mean that there are not some exceptional ones available. Citroen is only available in certain parts of the world, which is unfortunate because a lot of consumers in other areas would be interested in what they have to offer. This French automaker has long been respected for their cars and commercial vans, and in recent years, they have become a true competitor in the SUV market as well.

Citroen’s new C4 Aircross SUV is built on the Mitsubishi ASX platform, but has been extensively modified. The chrome grille bears the iconic Citroen emblem while graceful lines are complemented by elegant lighting. Despite the softness, the C4 Aircross still manages to look sporty and almost rugged.

The suspension is fine-tuned to provide a balanced and comfortable ride while the 1.8-liter diesel engine is fairly generous when it comes to fuel economy. There will also be a 1.6-liter turbo diesel, and non-European markets will see a 2.0-liter gasoline engine.

Inside you quickly appreciate driver-focused controls, serene ambiance, comfortable seating and sophistication. Citroen partnered with Denon for a High Fidelity system, complete with four tweeters, a subwoofer and digital amplifier. Plus, most versions will come with folding heated door mirrors and rear parking sensors as well.

With the Citroen C3 Picasso, you really can have your cake and eat it too. Here you get a vehicle that handles like a sedan, looks as fun as a sports car and has the ruggedness you need in an SUV. Add in the practicality of being a comfortable people hauler and you have a sure winner. When equipped with a 1.6-liter VTi engine, top speeds of 117 mph can be achieved on 10.6 seconds. Depending on location, there are a total of five engines, but all will not be available in every area.

Seating for five is more than comfortable, and the driver is granted great command of the road with generous visibility, thanks to the panoramic windscreen and sunroof.

Finishing off the lineup for 2013 is the Citroen DS4 Crossover Hatchback. This is a vehicle that stands out from the crowd and fills a void in the market nicely. The DS4 is a bit of a quirky looking vehicle, but the awkwardness just works. It comes standard with plenty of equipment, which is good news because it also comes with a lofty price tag.

This crossover is based on the underpinnings of the C4, but there is not one panel the same. Its short rear doors feature hidden handles, like Alfa Romeo is known for using, but due to their size, they are not practical for constant everyday use. To demand a second glance on the road, the vehicle is given a shallow glasshouse, distinctive backside and steep roofline.

In the rear, knee room is a little tight, but there is plenty of headroom. The cabin is elegant and well finished, with the highlight being the digital dashboard. Depending on your mood, you can switch between blue and white lighting, or you can black out everything but the speedometer, if you choose.

As far as features go, there is a massage feature in the front seats, 19-inch low profile wheels and a 1.6-liter turbo four-cylinder engine; what more could you ask for?
