Volkswagen Gives Light Updates To The 2018 Golf SV
It is supposed to make its official debut at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show next month, but Volkswagen has finally revealed some details on the “light updates” that the Golf SV is scheduled to receive.
The Golf range has been recently revised, so it’s only a matter of time before the Golf SV follows suit.
The exterior received subtle adjustments such as revised bumpers on the front and rear, a tweaked grille, and LED headlights on the top trims and LED taillights. If you are looking for a new color, you’ll be happy to know that a new Cranberry Red paint is now available. There is also a range of alloy wheels that you can choose from to complete the overall look of the Golf SV.
Once you’re inside, you’ll be comfortable with new fabrics and materials, as well as the new Discover Pro navigation system with a 9.2-inch touchscreen displays featuring capacitive touch buttons on the side and new a whole new tech—gesture control and increased smartphone connectivity.
The new safety tech is also available for the Golf SV, and rightfully so because VW enthusiasts have been demanding for it. The safety technology currently in place in the Golf SV are the Front Assist with City Emergency Braking and Pedestrian Monitoring. Prospective buyers can also expect to see the Traffic Jam Assist and an updated Park Assist System and Trailer Assist. The Traffic Jam Assist, in particular, is a low-speed adaptive cruise control that can work up to 37mph.
Volkswagen has yet to reveal details on its engine specifications, but earlier reports point to the possibility of the SV featuring three TSI petrols and two diesel engines. These would most likely be upgraded to improve efficiency.
Pricing and release date for the UK market will be released later this year.
2017 Volkswagen Tiguan Drops Entry-Level Price To $22,860
Since Volkswagen released its premium crossover called the Tiguan, many have criticized it because it’s prices higher than most of its competitors and contemporaries. The German automaker announced, however, that a Limited model of the Volkswagen Tiguan will be selling for $22,860.
The Limited model is based on the previous-generation Tiguan, but will sell alongside the 2018 Tiguan that uses the MQB architecture. The 2017 Tiguan S, which was the base model, has a starting selling price of $25,860 while the new 2018 Tiguan has an even higher price tag of $26,245.
Though the 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan Limited has very basic features, it more than make up for the lower price. The 2017 Tiguan Limited model has 16-inch steel wheels, halogen headlights, 5-inch touchscreen display, rearview camera, Bluetooth, and cloth seats.
If you are not contented with these, you can upgrade it with a Premium package for $1,295. They’ll get a 6.33-inch touchscreen, VW Car-Net connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an HD radio. It also has leather steering wheel, keyless access with push-button start, roof rails, and cruise control.
Do you want a 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels? That would cost $495 more.
There is enough power to entice buyers to shell out their money for the 2017 Tiguan Limited. Power is sourced from a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine that can produce 200 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque. All the models will be paired with a six-speed transmission (the 2018 model offers an eight-speed transmission).
You should be happy to know that this new-ish model grew 10.6 inches in length and 7.3 inches in wheelbase, meaning an increased cargo space and second-row legroom. The 2018 model is much better with an improved cargo space, thanks to a third-row level.
Finishing these all up is the choice of either a front- or an all-wheel drive. This model, an alternative to the pricier Tiguan variant, will arrive soon in dealerships.
Top 3 Features That We Can’t Wait To See In The I.D. Buzz Vokswagen Bus
Since 2001, German company Volkswagen has been hinting of the possible return of its much-loved Microbus. After more than a decade of waiting, it looks like VW is finally ready to give us what we have been looking forward to—the I.D. Buzz.
The next-generation bus first appeared as a concept car called the Bulli at the 2011 Geneva motor show then as the electric Budd-E Concept at the Consumer Electronics Show in 2016 and finally, as I.D. Buzz Concept at the 2017 Detroit auto show.
During the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, VW announced that the I.D. Buzz will be put into production and will be released sometime in 2022. This will make the second time that VW tries to make its mark in the electric vehicle industry. The first one was the compact four-door hatchback called the I.D.
1. I.D. Buzz Cargo
It looks like we’re not only going to be treated to an I.D. Buzz, but an I.D. Buzz Cargo as well. VW promised that the minibus won’t just be able to carry passengers, but cargo, too. Aside from that, the passenger variant will have configurable seating and interactive connectivity. The seats can be turned almost 360 degrees, so that passengers face one another.
The I.D. Buzz will also be able to save user settings or profiles to the cloud. The setting will save the seat position, destinations, music preferences, colors of the display, and many more.
2. Battery and Power
VW has yet to release the battery size, but the concept wears the batteries in the floor, which allow for short overhangs front and rear. The vehicle will have two motors, each one placed on the axle and can create a total of 369 horsepower. According to VW, the I.D. Buzz will be able to drive 270 miles on a single charge.
3. Autonomy
The I.D. Buzz will use Level 3 autonomy, which can handle all driving duties under certain conditions, though a driver must always be present in case the system requests for his intervention. The concept vehicle allows for a retractable steering wheel for a fully autonomous driving mode.
The I.D. Buzz will be offered in North America, Europe, and China.
8,000 Lamborghini Huracan Cars Completed in Three Years
In just three years, there were 8,000 Lamborghini Huracan cars built already. The figure surpassed the number of Lamborghinis ever made before 1999.
The Huracan is Lamborghini’s entry-level model. It was introduced during the Geneva Motor Show in 2014 and it came into the market in the second quarter of that same year. While the three-year figure is minuscule compared to the number of cars other companies make within the same duration, for a Lamborghini, that is already lot.
RoadAndTrack estimated that Lamborghini reached the 8,000 threshold when it comes to the total number of vehicles it produced sometime in 1999. Citing a data from the International Lamborghini Registry, the brand already produced around 5,599 units, excluding the Diablo, before 1993. Doing the math, the 2,401st Diablo that came out during that period is possibly the brand’s 8,000th car.
The company also disclosed that it produced around 3,000 Diablos during its production run, which ended in 2001. Thus, this supports the assumption that the company already produced 8,000 vehicles in 1999.
Regardless of when the company achieved the said numbers, the 8,000 figure definitely speaks a lot about the performance of the brand in this era. It its worth mentioning that the name is already under the Volkswagen Group, which purchased the company through Audi in 1998.
Though the Huracan still has a long way to go if it wants to take the mantle as Lamborghini’s most popular car. The predecessor of the car, the Gallardo, remains the holder of that distinction.
The Lamborghini Gallardo was introduced in 2003. The production run of the auto was until 2013. It is considered to the best-selling model of the brand because it sold around 14,000 during its production period.
Some might argue that the number of its cars available now dilute the exclusivity of Lamborghini. However, it should be noted that there are still more Porsches than Lamborghinis in the road today.
4 Things We Learned About the New Volkswagen Touareg
New spy photos of the new 2018 Volkswagen Touareg while it was undergoing testing surfaced online. The subject in the photos shows a design similar to the Touareg in the market today, but there are several cosmetic updates noticeable in the auto.
Check out the four things we learned about the 2018 Volkswagen Touareg from Motor1.com:
1. Platform
The Touareg uses the MLB Evo platform of Volkswagen. The architecture is also being used by the Audi Q7 luxury SUV.
2. Design
The third-generation Touareg appears to carry many styling elements found in the Volkswagen T-Prime Concept GTE SUV that was showcased at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show. Several enhancements are expected in the taped areas of the SUV’s headlamps and front grille though. Some portions of the sides show some thin strips too, which indicate upgrades. The rear reveal some stickers hiding the taillights as well. In addition, the upcoming vehicle sports twin exhaust tips.
Not much can be said about the interior of the Touareg for now as there are no clearer spy shots in its cabin yet. But like its exterior, its is possible that Volkswagen will just carry over the features of the SUV’s outgoing model.
Overall, the new Touareg retained the looks of its predecessor. However, Volkswagen seems to have ramped up its features a bit to address some of the blandness exhibited by its outgoing model.
3. Launching
The 2018 Touareg will probably debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It is likely that an online reveal of the auto will come before the said event.
4. Assembly
The next Touareg will be made in the Bratislava, Slovakia assembly plant of Volkswagen. The production of the vehicle will commence in November this year.

Hybrid Volkswagen Golf GTI First Decade Concept Car Unveiled
A hybrid model of the Volkswagen Golf GTI was just unveiled during the brand’s fan meet at the Lake Worthersee in Austria. The concept car was made by a group of young VW apprentices.
According to Autoblog, the Volkswagen Golf GTI First Decade was created to commemorate the 10 years of Worthersee show builds commissioned by VW. Peter Christ, Head of Automotive Technology Training in Wolfsburg, said that the goal of the project is for the apprentices of the company to learn the complexities of automobile production and to let them gain further experience through the use of digital technologies, application of system technology and electro-mobility.
Power Units
Rechristened as the Volkswagen Golf GTI First Decade, the vehicle packs a petrol-fueled engine. The unit is capable of producing a whopping 410 hp. All that power is directed to the front wheels of the car.
Next to that is a 48-volt electric motor. The unit gives the Volkswagen Golf GTI First Decade another 16 hp at the rear wheels. There are no details yet about the range of the car’s twin battery at full charge using the all-electric drive system, but the company says it is handy at short distances or in stop-and-go traffic. The regenerative braking technology of the auto provides it an improved energy efficiency.
Combining the petrol and electric motors of the Volkswagen Golf GTI First Decade allows it to optimize its performance with an all-wheel drive system.
Design
The Volkswagen Golf GTI First Decade is finished in five-tone matte paintwork. The striking Atlantic Blue color in its exterior with decorative strips and contrasting Satin Ocean Shimmer foil paint, blacked out radiator grille, rear spoiler and set of 20-inch alloy wheels make the car very hard to miss on the road.
The interior design of the car features handcrafted black nappa and Alcantara surfaces with blue trim. Basically, every element found in the Volkswagen Golf GTI has been retained, except that the developers of the concept car removed the rear passenger seats to make way for a massive 11-speaker, 1,690-watt sound system.
3 Key Selling Points of the Volkswagen Tiguan
The Volkswagen Tiguan is one of the best medium-sized SUVs in the world today. The pricing for the auto starts at £22,995, which is around $29,835.55. So what are the things that make it worth your money?
Here are the top 3 selling points of the SUV based on a Top Gear review:
1. Engine
The Tiguan is available in various engine trims. The most affordable comes in the form of the 1.4 TSi BMT 125 S 5dr. The petrol-fed unit packs a good 125 bhp enabling it to accelerate from zero to 62 mph in just 10.5 seconds.
For the environmentally-conscious buyers who are also looking for the most fuel-efficient model, the 2.0 TDi BMT 115 S 5dr is highly recommended for them. The diesel engine of the auto has a CO2 emission of 123 g/km and its fuel efficiency is rated at 60.1 mpg. Its output is pretty decent at 115 bhp with zero to 62 mph acceleration of 10.9 seconds.
For the ones who prefer the quickest powertrain, they should opt for the 2.0 BiTDi BMT 240 4Motion R-Line 5dr DSG. Priced at £38,955, the vehicle produces 240 bhp that allows it to sprint from zero to 62 mph in only 6.5 seconds. The only trade off is its 167 g/km CO2 emission and 44.1 mpg consumption.
2. Exterior
The Tiguan possesses a muscular frame accentuated by its artistically-placed body lines. The SUV measures 4,486 mm in length, 2,099 mm in width, 1,657 mm in height and 2,681 mm in wheelbase. The standard model is fitted with 17-inch alloy wheels while the sportier, range-topping variant has 20-inch alloys wheels.
3. Interior
Not much can be said in the interior design of the Tiguan. The styling follows a practical approach, which puts over functionality and space before design. Owners can pimp up the interior of the auto with the optional Virtual Cockput TFT dials found in the Audi TT.

3 Key Features of the 2017 Volkswagen e-Golf
The 2017 Volkswagen e-Golf is VW’s only entry to the electric vehicle segment in the the US market. The German car boasts a long range and a pretty decent output.
Recently, Green Car Reports took the EV for a test drive at the Grant’s Tomb located in Manhattan’s Upper West Side in New York. Below are the top 3 features of the e-Golf based on the review:
1. Power
The Volkswagen e-Golf runs on a 100 kWh electric motor powered by a 35.8 lithium-ion battery pack. The output of the unit is 134 hp with 214 lb-ft of torque. It’s older model possesses 115 hp and 199 lb-ft of torque.
The output of the new e-Golf allows it to sprint from zero to 60 mph in just 9.6 seconds. That’s a second quicker than the older model. The source noted that they could not sense any difference from its earlier version’s acceleration time though.
2. Range
The combined EPA-rated range of the auto is 125 miles. It is a significant increase compared to its predecessor’s 83 miles range.
The charging of the vehicle takes less than six hours in a 240-volt Level 2 charging station. Using the DC fast charger of the SE and SEL premium models, and as optional add-on on the e-Golf S, an 80 percent charge can be attained in around an hour with a CCS charging station.
The article showed admiration to the engine of the EV for being quiet. The auto was also praised for its smooth handling during acceleration and while being reversed for parking.
3. Design
The VW e-Golf is basically a VW Golf fitted with electric motor. So everything from the exterior to interior design of the e-Golf and the standard Golf is the same.

The Volkswagen ID Crozz Vs. Skoda Vision E
Many automakers showcased their concept cars at the 2017 Shanghai Auto Show. Most of them offer a hybrid or all-electric powertrain. Among them were the Volkswagen ID Crozz and the Skoda Vision E concept cars.
Looking at the two vehicles, they surely bear a striking resemblance with each other. After all, their brands are closely related. Here is a quick look at their key features:
Exterior
Skoda is a Czech brand but it is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group since 2000. Therefore, it is no longer surprising that the Skoda Vision E shares the same platform with the Volkswagen ID Crozz concept.
Side-by-side, the two concept SUVs have the same form, dimensions and panoramic roofing. They also got rid of the traditional front grille. The noticeable differences in their exterior lies in the lighting system, bumpers, body lines, wheels and badges only.
Interior
Skoda had taken liberties in the interior of the Concept E compared to the ID Crozz of Volkswagen. While the ID Crozz offers what looks like a futuristic but minimalist approach, the Concept E is adorned with a lot of gizmos, including three displays in the dashboard and more controls. The Concept E appears to have more prominent wood trims and leather accents too.
Power Unit
The new Volkswagen and Skoda concept vehicles share the same powertrain. Each auto is powered by two electric motors located at the front and rear.
The front motors of the ID Crozz and Concept E each provides an output of 75 kW. The rear electric motor produces 150 kW. Overall, each vehicle has a total output of 225 kW.
The concept cars are powered by a 83 kWh battery with regenerative braking technology. The tech is a form of energy recovery mechanism, which adds to the energy efficiency of the vehicles. Based on Skoda, the EVs can cover a distance of 500 km at full charge.
