The 2014 Lexus RX 350
It is like the mother of all luxury SUVs. Lexus RX 350 almost taught the world about luxury SUVs. A vehicle that had it all! Comfortable and plash interiors, a ride to savor, sturdy and strong exteriors mated with an affordable price, ability to traverse though rough weathers and terrains and a generous amount of room for passengers as well as for cargo. As soon as the first Lexus rolled out creating a whole new niche of vehicle, disciples followed. And while there is a plethora of competitors, some of which grown into better vehicles than the Lexus itself, this brand and its lineup stands firm on the grounds as one of the most appealing luxury SUVs in the world. And one such crossover happens to be the 2014 Lexus Rx 350.
The 2014 Lexus RX 350 is all what a Lexus should essentially have. And along with it sports an impressive V6 grunt, comfortable and spacious seating and a plush cabin that is fully equipped with cutting edge technology. The five passenger crossover offers all sorts of basic features that anybody could possible need from a vehicle in this segment. Topping it all is an almost negligible amount of limitations about the Lexus RX 350. Jus an absent third row for seating and a little tricky user interface on the cabin and that’s all that is not exceptionally good about the Lexus RX 350. Everything else is!
The 2014 Lexus RX 350 gets its power from the 3.5 liter six-cylinder engine that is good for 270 horses and about 248 pound feet of twist. The 2014 RX 350 comes standard with a front wheel drive and a six speed automatic transmission. Also, an all wheel drive system comes as an option. The trim level F Sport comes standard with all wheel drive and has its engine mated to an eight speed automatic instead of six. This fine ride is capable of cruising up at 60 mph starting from rest in a sprint time of 7.1 seconds – on par with the performances of other vehicles in this niche. The one little attribute where the 2014 Lexus RX 350 fails to impress is its towing capability. The luxury crossover can tow around 3,500 pounds whereas, other crossovers in the segment can manage to tow more.
While the cabin is a bit messy to operate and requires more attention than need be, it looks amazingly plush. The interiors of the Lexus RX 350 look absolutely divine and every little addition on the inside of this vehicle adds to the luxury, the vehicle promises to offer.
The 2014 Lexus Rx 350 rides like a star. When you drive and RX 350, all you can witness is the luxurious and comfortable ride and isolation from the rest of the world and its noises. Although this crossover faces quite some amount of competition from newer competitors like the Acura MDX and the Audi Q5, the 2014 Lexus RX 350 is one classic luxury crossover one mustn’t miss to check out!
The 2014 Cadillac SRX
While there is a whole lot of truck like monstrous SUVs dominating the niche of luxury crossovers, there are SUVs like Cadillac’s amazingly loved Escalade and the SRX. The 2014 Cadillac SRX is one beautifully designed crossover to behold. How can a SUV possibly sport contours and straight chiseled lines blended so perfectly that it almost looks like a sedan while being a perfect SUV on the side? The 2014 Cadillac SRX manages to do that is a fine way. And along with the brilliantly designed exterior, which the SUV has held on to from the previous models, this year the SRX is set to sport a completely redesigned interior with newer and better features. The five passenger crossover is now upgraded with the newest safety technology and features a fully adaptive cruise control. While the beautiful lines and nimble designing on the outside is already comparable to a sedan, the interiors of the 2014 Cadillac SRX are also bold and unconventional for SUV.
Seems like everything about this utility vehicle is more car like! The 2014 Cadillac SRX doesn’t drive very sporty. The stylish SUV is powered by 3.6 liter V-6 grunt that is good for 308 ponies and produces about 265 pound feet of twist. The sprint time the vehicle takes in order to reach 60 mph from rest is 7.1 seconds which is on par with SUVs in this niche. The all wheel drive SRX comes out to be a tad bit slower yet it supersedes the 7.8 seconds sprint time of the Lexus RX350. However, the all wheel drive system on the SUV is optional. The 2014 Cadillac SRX also offers some amount of torque vectoring with the help of rear brakes. The SUV comes in front wheel drive as standard.
The interior is the big thing about the 2014 Cadillac SRX. There is more sophisticated and stylish dashboard that sports all new-fangled gauges. There is an all new 8-inch CUE infotainment system. Earlier, the screen in the SRX was semi-masked until it was needed but now the vehicle sports an all time visible LCD with a classier UI and design.
The new adaptive cruise control charges an extra sum of $2,400. But for all its worth, this is a must have if you settle to buy this SUV. The cruise control is capable of making the SUV stop or go in traffic. There are features like cross-traffic help and blind-spot assist. The safety features get more intensified with the additional lane assist system and safety alert seats. The bumper and the stylish grille of the SUC conceal radar arrays which are the basics of all the safety features in the 2014 Cadillac SRX.
This essentially Cadillac SUV faces a generous amount of competition with vehicles like the Lexus RX450h and Lexus RX350. Both the SUVs are a delight to drive. The current Cadillac SRX, in all its glory, is priced at around $40,000; however, the price is not yet fixed for the 2014 Cadillac SRX.
The 2014 Mercedes Benz M-Class
The 2014 Mercedes Benz M-Class is one of the most perfect SUVs in the market. This stunningly stylish super utility vehicle is one hell of an off-roader and yet is a favorite and strong status symbol for the high end families in the up-class suburbs. What’s newer with the already new SUV is that it has recently been awarded with the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ honor by The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Though what this amazing charmer can do and what it is used for isn’t always the same thing, this is a life for a luxury SUV it cannot escape from. The current 2014 Mercedes Benz M-Class looks more aggressive yet it doesn’t come too strong on you thus holding on to its outward image. On the inside, this plush SUV sports swooping curves and sculpted lines with soft sedan-like features.
While the 2014 Mercedes Benz M-Class does flaunt its off-roadness with sharp lines and masculine structure, it drives like a luxury sedan most of the time sporting a smooth, refined character behind the wheel. The SUV takes it all away with strong and responsive powertrain, secure handling and confident roadholding. The new 302 horsepower base V-6 engine in the M-class, which is a 3.6 liter 60-degree V6 engine was completely new last year and its one of the best V6 luxury engines. The gasoline engines especially tend to work well in concert with the seven sped automatic transmission, singing all the way up to the rev range with no rough edges. While the ML550 model sport a stronger, direct injection 4.6 liter V8 good for 402 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque, the top-of-the-range ML63 AMG boasts a 5.5 liter biturbo V-8 making 518 hp and 516 pound feet of torque which gets better with the AMG Performance Package.
The 2014 Mercedes Benz M-Class offers many of the same comforts, infotainment, connectivity and plush luxury features you’ll find in the brands top sedans like the S-class; as well as some features that help it stand out against other utility vehicles. To a list a few standouts, there is a heated or cooled cup holder that keeps a capability of heating up to 141 degrees F and there is an iPad docking station – positioned between the front seats and in view for the rear passengers (which is soon to be available in all Mercedes Benz models).
With classier and more upscale interiors than the previous generations, the M-Class still looks familiar in its current design; however, the detailing is more with a broad grille, large air dams and more lines and creasing on the sides.
Tasteful exterior, indulging interiors, the new 2014 Mercedes Benz M-Class has turned out to be a pleasant vehicle to drive, even on a challenging track. The crossover faces tough competition with models like the redesigned 2014 BMW X5 that provides better handling, or the 2014 Porsche Cayenne, or the 2014 Acura MDX and Lexus RX 350. But for those who feel like cruising in dignified comfort, the 2014 Mercedes Benz M-Class is a good satisfaction.
