3 Important Features of The 2019 GMC Sierra

The GMC Sierra was first introduced a decade ago, and finally, after years of no updates and developments, we’re seeing a changeover with the coming of the 2019 GMC Sierra. This new model will get a variety of new features, technology, and styling that will make it stand out from its mechanically identical cousin, the Chevrolet Silverado.

1. Exterior

The new exterior design, which made its debut during a live event in Detroit, will make the truck look bigger and bolder. This is especially noticeable up front where there’s a new chrome grille, a taller hood, new C-shaped headlights with LEDs for DRLs, and all-new taillights. Buyers can opt for the 22-inch wheels, that will add more height to the truck. To wrap it all off, the new Sierra is made with carbon fiber bed that adds toughness and allows GMC to make the truck lighter compared to its predecessor and competitors.

2. Interior

Inside, the Sierra is better than ever. Thanks to the premium Denali trim level, the Sierra’s interior has bigger headroom and legroom (the best in its class, in fact) and gets a host of premium materials all throughout the cabin—leather upholstery for the seats, open-pore wood trim on the center tunnel, and dark-finish aluminum on the center console.

As a first in its segment, the Sierra will get a multi-color heads-up display measuring 3.0 inches in height and 7.-inches in width. It can be customized to display the data of your choice. Other features include a Rear Camera Mirror and safety suite such as Side Blind Zone Alert, Pedestrian Detection, and Low Speed Forward Automatic Braking. For the infotainment system, there’s an app that is based on the GMC IntelliLink platform.

3. Powertrain

The Sierra has expanded its powertrain. There’s an update to the 6.2-liter engine and the 5.8-liter V-8s. Addthe addition in the lineup is the all-new 3.0-liter inline-6 cylinder turbodiesel option. The latter came from GMC’s Duramax lineup, which also includes power found in the Sierra HD and Canyon.

The 5.3-liter can produce 355 horsepower while the 6.2-liter can cough up 420 horsepower. Hopefully, there will be at least modest improvements for the power output.
