Speaking technicality, the Piezo style fuel injectors are undoubtedly the excellent choice for diesel engines as they are highly efficient to handle excess high pressure. The injectors of the model we are talking about are powerful enough to injecting diesel in Audi’s 3.0 liter diesel V-6 engine at a staggering speed of 29,000 psi, which is definitely high from its previous versions and also ensures higher power output. The supercharged 3.0 liter turbo TDI makes you feel like home with its instant torque and the way its whisks smoothly away from stops. Audi has actually made downshift completely irrelevant with their new offering.
In comparison to its expensive oil burning competitors like Mercedes-Benz GLK 250 BlueTEC, 2014 Audi Q5 TDI offers better driving experience. The 2015 Porsche Macan
Taking aim at the X3, Evoque and GLK, Porsche finally took the veils off its smaller luxury SUV scheduled to slot beneath the larger and more expensive Cayenne. The 2015 Porsche Macan was put into the light at the 2013 LA auto show. The long-awaited SUV’s revelation gave excellent preview of its petite body. As most of you might have expected, Macan’s front facade and much of its side profile looks like a scaled-down version of the existing Cayenne. And as a matter of fact, Cayenne’s lines work even better on this smaller body of Macan. Interestingly, at the back, a single-piece light bar replicates the taillight design used on the 911 sports car. 2015 Porsche Macan a chic and slick car and will be a great hit when it makes to production.
Macan, the name pronounced as “ma-chan” – an Indonesian word for “tiger”, was earlier rumored to be built off the same platform used for the Audi Q5 and was supposed to be sharing many of the mechanical and powertrain components of its corporate cousin. However, they de-Audi-ied the Macan into something sportier! When it launches, the Macan will offer two models – S and Turbo. Each of the models is powered by a twin turbocharged V6 engine. While the Macan S utilizes a 3.0 liter unit the Turbo gets a burlier 3.6 liter grunt. The S is sufficiently powerful churning out 340 horsepower but the Turbo takes it away with its whopping 400 ponies. Both the models come standard with an all wheel drive as well as a seven speed PDK dual clutch automatic transmission. A torque vectoring function of the rear axle is optional. According to the brands early performance estimates, the 2015 Porsche Macan S can reach 60 mph from rest in a sprint time of 5.2 second, while the 2015 Porsche Macan Turbo is capable of doing the same in a mere 4.6 seconds. Top speed is an impressive 156 mph for the S and 164 for the turbo.
All of the above performance comes in a package that is 2.1 inch longer in length and sits 0.2 inch lower and stretches a negligible 0.2 inches between its axles as compared to the Audi Q5. Also, holding on to the mantra of keeping it sportier, 2015 Porsche Macan is an inch wider than the Audi. However, the baby Cayenne still retains the Q5’s five-link front and trapezoidal link rear suspension, buts adds a variety of spring and damper choices.
The company’s Volkswagen parents thought that Porsche really needed a small crossover since a growing product portfolio is the best path to global profitability. Also a sure niche existed for a performance-themed small luxury crossover such as the Macan, as the segment’s current leaders – the Audi Q5, the BMW X3, the Cadillac SRX, the Mercedes Benz GLK Class and the Volvo XC60 – don’t stray much beyond practical. Expected to go on sale soon, the 2015 Porsche Macan will probably be priced around in the mid $45,000 range. A fully loaded 2015 Porsche Macan Turbo could even cost up to a massive $100,000 as told by Nick Twork, a Porsche Cars North America spokesman.
The 2014 Audi Q5
The German automaker Audi argues that the Q5 boasts interiors of a luxury car, the handling of a sport sedan, and the ground clearance of a crossover SUV. Interestingly, the brand never needed to argue since the 2014 Audi Q5 actually blends the three of the above qualities and is one of the most loved compact luxury crossovers in its class. For 2014, Audi Q5 lineup welcomes the addition of a powerful yet fuel efficient turbodiesel model while the base 2.0 liter gets a power upgrade to 220 horsepower. Rest updates are confined to equipment changes across various trim levels.
The 2014 Audi Q5 2.0T comes standard with all wheel drive and a turbocharged 2.0 liter inline four cylinder engine good for 220 horsepower and 258 pound feet of torque. An eight speed automatic transmission comes as standard. EPA estimated fuel economy is 20 city/28 highway and 23 mpg combined. The Q5 2.0T accelerates to 60 mph from rest in a sprint time of 6.8 seconds which is a performance on par with the Audi’s peers. The Audi 3.0T sports a supercharged 3.0 liter V6 engine that generates 272 horsepower and 295 pound feet of torque. Along with the standard eight speed automatic transmission, an automatic stop-start system saves fuel by shutting off the engine when the car comes to a halt. This 3.0T engine is capable of accelerating the Q5 from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.8 seconds which surely is a very quick time for a vehicle in this class. Fuel economy estimates stand at 18/26/21. Next in the lineup, the Q5 3.0 TDI features a 3.0 liter turbocharged diesel V6 good for 240 hp and a whopping 428 pound feet of torque. The automatic stop-start system is standard. The brand claims a sprint time of 6.5 seconds for a 0 to 60 mph acceleration while fuel economy estimates stand at 24/30/26. Lastly, Q5 Hybrid pairs the 2.0T’s engine with an electric motor and a battery pack and generates an output of 245 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque.
The 2014 Audi Q5 sports classy interiors and top notch construction. Despite its compact size this crossover manages to deliver a roomy experience whether you’re seated in front or rear seats. The rear seats slide fore and raft, which is a rarity in this segment of luxury crossovers.
The SUV delivers smooth, powerful acceleration and the eight speed automatic transmission is refined and responsive. As the brand “argues”, the handling is excellent. The steering is similarly quick and responsive but is said to have a rather artificial feel. One rather funny or annoying thing about the Q5 is its random refiring since the automatic stop-start system doesn’t keep the engine off at very long traffic lights.
While the compact luxury crossover faces head to head competition with models, like the roomier Volvo XC60, the equally excellent handling and performance boasting BMW X3 or the even more stylish Land Rover’s Range Rover Evoque or the mpg driven Mercedes Benz GLK-Class, the 2014 Audi Q5 is a candidate that does everything well and hence becomes an ideal choice!
Jaguar’s first crossover – The Jaguar C-X16
Jaguar SUV and Land Rover no longer remain synonyms to each other. What marks the Jaguar’s brave new future is the revelation of the C-X17 crossover concept car at the 2013 Frankfurt motor show. The Jaguar branded crossover is a stunning display of the Jaguar’s new ‘iQ Al’ modular aluminum platform. While the luxury crossover market is in overdrive and armed with some amazing vehicles, Jaguar’s C-X17 crossover concept is a contender that looks emphatic and sharp enough to make a statement.
Jaguar is a British brand that has been a purist and is known well for its traditional sporting vehicles. The very fact has been a big reason to create blasphemy among many since the brand has taken a brave step to launch a posh-roader. However, potential rewards are many. For instance, Cayenne worked wonders for Porsche and the upcoming super-SUVs from the brands Lamborghini, Bentley and Rolls-Royce have already made much news and anticipators for them. This makes the new C-X17 concept from Jaguar an equally potential idea to anticipate for. And the sensational looks of the car only strengthen the point! Jaguar’s acclaimed designer Ian Callum, who also admitted that at first he was reluctant to design such car and is only doing it for the love of SUVs people are mad about these days, told, that though his team already knew what a great success was the sister brand Land Rover’s Range Rover SDV8 and its little sister Evoque was, they still carried their pursuit to give the C-x17 its own personality, intending to create a silhouette that emphasize on the sporty design of the vehicle.
With slim glasshouse and 23 inch alloy wheel that were added as a necessity to boost the C-X17s ability to make heads turn around while it rolls, Ian Callum also claims that none of the features, the bodywork is so out of the box that it hampers the production feasibility. The car has even got proper door and mirrors. However, the car’s cabin looks a wee bit outlandish but on a closer take it comes out to be a minimalist tae on the current Jaguar interior design. What makes the C-X17 look like a sporty beast ready to roll is a large single frame grille and two gigantic nostrils lit by diffused LEDs. And these sinister looking LED flashlights with a prominent upright black mesh grille mated with grey plastic skirting beneath the bumper while a muscular contoured bonnet stands above all, give the Jaguar c-X17 all the brawn it needs to take over the market of SUVs.
The jaguar C-X17 crossover concept is 4.7 meter long, 1.6 meter high and 1.9 meter wide. What the brand calls as a way to “introduce Jaguar’s new, high advanced, modular architecture” is a straight target to the Audi Q5 and BMW X3. The cars have been great newsmakers in the premium market of SUVs and it’s not much to think why Jaguar took aim at these cars. The first crossover from the company is highly awaited and has enough reasons to be waited for.
Jaguar CX 17 Concept Unveiled
The new Jaguar crossover concept is out! What seems to be is that the dubbed CX-17 looks like an XJ’s brother that has been hanging out at the local gym too much. What firms calls a way to “introduce Jaguar’s new, high-advanced, modular architecture” and also a design to illustrate “the diversity of vehicles that could be produces using this architecture, which underpins he innovative future of the Jaguar brand”, is the first crossover from the company. Jaguar’s design director Ian Callum, who admitted that he has been reluctant to produce such cars and is doing it for the love of SUVs and SUV lovers all over the world also told that the new Jaguar CX-17 is targeted to the young generation who aspire to own an SUV! The luxury British manufacturer claims that this is going to be one driver’s car. Essentially Jaguar!
Upcoming Jaguar takes a whole lot of design cues from Jaguar’s road car range. Front façade that features a large single frame grille and slim headlights is a take on the current XJ’s face. However, two gigantic nostrils lit by diffused LEDs make the new CX-17 look like a beast ready to roll. When it comes to what the rear of the upcoming SUV looks like, it screams Jaguar F-type out loud. Pronounced rear launches and the horizontal tail lights mark the influence of the same. The originality bit comes from a twin exhaust, a roof spoiler and 23-inch alloys which also emphasize the SUVs sporty intentions. Focused, chic and minimalist, the interior of the car firstly features four individual bucket seats each of which is embossed with a laser cut dog-toothed pattern.
There are “leisure” seats, two of them that pop up from the boot floor which are a treat to your tired body to perch when you park up in the middle of a long drive. The dashboard is simplistic and houses a central screen and a touch sensitive control panel. The center console is one large touchscreen in itself that stretches back to the rear passengers and is called the Interactive Surface Control. Jaguar intends to offer both super-efficient diesel models that emit less than 100g/km of CO2 as well as the high performance supercharged petrol V6 engines also used by the F-type, capable of achieving 186 mph. The CX-17 sports a rear-biased intelligent all-wheel drive system. Fine and tidy handling that comes with the all-aluminum suspension is what is to be expected.
The sinister-looking LED flashlights on the face of the monster with a prominent upright black mesh grille, a muscular contoured bonnet and grey plastic skirting beneath the bumper all of it gives the new Jaguar just the right brawn it needs to step into the premium market of SUVs. 4.7 meter long, 1.6 meter high and 1.9 meter wide, the CX-17 targets the Audi Q5 and BMW X3 right away! And it’s not a surprise why Jaguar took aim at these cars for this is the fastest growing and largest market sector for luxury SUVs.
