The 2015 Range Rover Evoque and Range Rover Evoque XL
One of the major names in the market of SUVs, that has the cheeks to pull off anything be it a luxury SUV convertible (Evoque Convertible) or a luxury SUV that is meant to rule among the off-roaders (Defender DC100) is none other than Land Rover. One of the best selling vehicles in kits lineup is the Land Rover range R over Evoque which has always done the brand proud. And for the very reason the company is planning to launch a modified and more equipped version of the Evoque by 2016. The vehicle is to be called as the Range Rover Evoque XL, while it still remains under the code name L560. Also, the 2015 Range Rover Evoque has not undergone any significant changes since it was initially introduced and this gives rise to possibility that it will be completely redesigned for model year 2015.
The 2015 Range Rover Evoque XL is a joint venture of the company with Jaguar. Albeit the fact that the SUV still is in its development stages, the 2015 Range Rover Evoque XL model will hit the market with a contingent of 80,000 copies. While the production model is anticipated to be out of the veil by the year 2016, it is not yet known whether the model will be for 2015 MY or 2016 MY. The first model to sit on the Jaguar’s new platform, Range Rover Evoque XL will have a full aluminum platform underpinning it. The same platform was featured in the 2014 Jaguar CX-17 Concept crossover which was revealed in the Frankfurt Motor Show 2013. The platform significantly reduces the overall weight of the vehicle, thereby, increasing the fuel efficiency. Along with the platform, 2015 Range Rover Evoque XL will also launch a new engine taken from the Jaguar collection. The new JLR Hotfire line of engines from Jaguar offers both turbo petrol and turbo diesel engines. Pricing for the new 2015 Range Rover Evoque XL is estimated to be more than $ 33,000 which is the estimated price for the Jaguar’s CX-17 concept crossover.
The 2015 Range Rover Evoque, incredibly redesigned, will feature a new transmission, redone alloy wheels, extended color palette for both inside and outside. Essentially Range Rover, the Evoque 2014 has been an SUV that is virtually perfect with features like its Toque Vectoring system, upgraded brakes with Active Driveline, Closing Vehicle Sensing and Reverse Traffic Detection for smooth maneuvering and a nine speed ZF transmission mated with either a 2.2 L turbodiesel good for 148 hp/187 hp or a 2.0 L turbo petrol producing 237 hp and 340 Nm of twist. With almost all things nice places in one great package of the Range Rover Evoque 2014, it is expected that with the 2015 Range Rover Evoque, the brand will add an accompanying vehicle to their expected hybrid SUVs lineup viz. the Land Rover Range Rover and the Land Rover Range Rover Sport.
The current Range Rover Evoque is priced at around $ 36,000 to $40,000. However, the price of the 2015 Range Rover Evoque is not yet known.
The 2014 Audi Q5
The German automaker Audi argues that the Q5 boasts interiors of a luxury car, the handling of a sport sedan, and the ground clearance of a crossover SUV. Interestingly, the brand never needed to argue since the 2014 Audi Q5 actually blends the three of the above qualities and is one of the most loved compact luxury crossovers in its class. For 2014, Audi Q5 lineup welcomes the addition of a powerful yet fuel efficient turbodiesel model while the base 2.0 liter gets a power upgrade to 220 horsepower. Rest updates are confined to equipment changes across various trim levels.
The 2014 Audi Q5 2.0T comes standard with all wheel drive and a turbocharged 2.0 liter inline four cylinder engine good for 220 horsepower and 258 pound feet of torque. An eight speed automatic transmission comes as standard. EPA estimated fuel economy is 20 city/28 highway and 23 mpg combined. The Q5 2.0T accelerates to 60 mph from rest in a sprint time of 6.8 seconds which is a performance on par with the Audi’s peers. The Audi 3.0T sports a supercharged 3.0 liter V6 engine that generates 272 horsepower and 295 pound feet of torque. Along with the standard eight speed automatic transmission, an automatic stop-start system saves fuel by shutting off the engine when the car comes to a halt. This 3.0T engine is capable of accelerating the Q5 from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.8 seconds which surely is a very quick time for a vehicle in this class. Fuel economy estimates stand at 18/26/21. Next in the lineup, the Q5 3.0 TDI features a 3.0 liter turbocharged diesel V6 good for 240 hp and a whopping 428 pound feet of torque. The automatic stop-start system is standard. The brand claims a sprint time of 6.5 seconds for a 0 to 60 mph acceleration while fuel economy estimates stand at 24/30/26. Lastly, Q5 Hybrid pairs the 2.0T’s engine with an electric motor and a battery pack and generates an output of 245 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque.
The 2014 Audi Q5 sports classy interiors and top notch construction. Despite its compact size this crossover manages to deliver a roomy experience whether you’re seated in front or rear seats. The rear seats slide fore and raft, which is a rarity in this segment of luxury crossovers.
The SUV delivers smooth, powerful acceleration and the eight speed automatic transmission is refined and responsive. As the brand “argues”, the handling is excellent. The steering is similarly quick and responsive but is said to have a rather artificial feel. One rather funny or annoying thing about the Q5 is its random refiring since the automatic stop-start system doesn’t keep the engine off at very long traffic lights.
While the compact luxury crossover faces head to head competition with models, like the roomier Volvo XC60, the equally excellent handling and performance boasting BMW X3 or the even more stylish Land Rover’s Range Rover Evoque or the mpg driven Mercedes Benz GLK-Class, the 2014 Audi Q5 is a candidate that does everything well and hence becomes an ideal choice!
The New 2013 Range Rover!
Along with the beautiful Range Rover Evoque, Land Rover has launched its new 2013 Range Rover improving on the 2012 model of the SUV.
The new 2013 Land Rover Range Rover features a lot more than the 2012 model, making the two quite different from each other. One of the most outstanding differences is the weight of the car’s body. The 2013 model is made up of aluminium, which resulted in a reduction of 420kgs compared to the former 2012 model. With the reduction in around 39% of the weight, the new Range Rover is now much more fuel efficient, faster and stable!
The 2013 Range Rover will be available to customers in three different models – one petrol version and two diesel versions. All of these models will be featuring an automatic transmission system, and Land Rover’s trademark –all-wheel drive system. The petrol version will come with a 5000cc V8 engine. Sounds insane, right? There are two different trims for the diesel versions, one featuring 3000cc TD V6 engine and the other one featuring a 4400cc SD V8 engine. The petrol version’s 5000cc engine produces power of 375 horsepower and a torque of 375 lb. ft. The supercharged engine produces 510 horsepower and torque of 461 lb. ft. The top speeds that both trims attain are 130 and 140 miles per hour respectively. Also, these models reach the 60 miles per hour mark in 6.5 seconds and 5.1 seconds respectively.
Luxury is something that you will find in abundance in the car’s interiors. With an unparalleled sound system which comprises of over 20 speakers, you also get a climate control system and two LCD displays. The first display is used for displaying important information, while the other, touchscreen display is for entertainment and other controls.
The exteriors aren’t very different from the 2012 model. You will notice slightly improvised detailing in the headlamps, which now feature daytime LED lamps, making the car look much more aggressive. Land Rover has planned to make the interiors a bit more spacious by increasing the wheelbase slightly.
You cannot question the overwhelming success of the Land Rover’s Range Rover series. Land Rover seems to have got just the right blend, luxury and utility for this powerful SUV. Land Rover has certainly added a great car to its already amazing collection!
