The 2014 Infiniti QX80
Infiniti QX80 is the newly named 2014 avatar of the Infinity QX56 from last year. One of the best full sized SUV in its niche, the Infiniti QX80 virtually has it all to qualify as the best when one talks about a big, powerful vehicle that looks just at appealing as it rides. The 2014 Infiniti QX80, for the very reason of being super amazing in the first place, remains unchanged for this model year, despite a little addition in its safety system. Back-up Collision Intervention would be the unfamiliar little thing when you lay hand on this year’s Infiniti QX80.
While the beast offers humungous power, rating at around 400 ponies, it keeps the strength of Hercules, towing a whopping 8,500 pounds at once. All the muscle comes from the V8 that sits under the hood of this plush 2014 Infiniti QX80. Just as the strength of the vehicle leaves one in awe, the interiors stand equally breathtaking. Classy and sophisticated, the interior of the 2014 Infiniti QX80 is capable of making at least a sum of 6 people, to enjoy its luxurious ride, together. And since the vehicle seems to be on a spree of acing in every other attribute how could it possible lag behind when it comes to safety. Every possible safety technology one can ever need can be found in at once in the 2014 Infiniti QX80, along with the newly added, back-up collision improvement system.
The entire rumble for an Infiniti Qx80 comes from a 5.6 liter eight cylinder engine, which readily produces about 400 horses and 413 pound feet of twist. The V8 is mated to a seven speed automatic transmission which is standard for the 2014 Infiniti QX80; as is the rear wheel drive. The deluxe sports ute comes with an optional four wheel drive as well. The SUV is capable of reaching a speed of 60 mph from rest in a sprint time of 6.8 seconds, which, as a matter of fact, is quite impressive for a vehicle that big. Even the EPA ratings of this luxury SUV do not fail to impress with a combined 16 mpg that is 14 mpg city and 20 mpg highway.
The 2014 Infiniti QX80 comes with a fully equipped cabin that is pure delight to look at. The supreme quality materials gone into the making of the interiors of 2014 QX80 surely mark their presence. While the amazing array of gauges and bells and a monitor bring pleasure to those who are in love with technology, the amazingly simple user interface helps those who’re not into it all that much.
2014 Infiniti QX80 impressively justifies its brand name by being amazingly athletic. The buttery smooth shifts, strong acceleration and the agility of a ninja all packs into one brawny vehicle called the Infiniti QX80 that stands proud on 22 inches wide wheels. While the SUV faces a fair amount of competition with models like the Mercedes Benz GL Class and the Escalade or even the 2014 Lexus LX 570, the Infiniti QX80 has something about it.
Aston Martin Tries to Make Impression on the SUV Market With the Lagonda SUV Concept
After all the automobile giants like Mercedes, Porsche, Audi, etc. luxury car makers have also decided of making their way into the segment and bring for the SUV world some of the most luxurious (and expensive!) SUVs ever seen! After the news of Bentley, Rolls Royce and Lamborghini stepping into the category, we couldn’t think of any other but Aston Martin, who had signed a deal with Mercedes – AMG some time back.
Aston Martin first revealed its Lagonda SUV Concept at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show, which was not liked very much by the SUV world as critics as well as SUV lovers did not really develop a liking for the vehicle. The company realized that there would have been a lot of changes to be made before they could expect good sales result after launching the SUV. A thing to be noticed is that this was before the company signed the deal with Mercedes – AMG. With access to the latter’s excellent engineering and electronic assets, Aston Martin has planned of making the Lagonda all different. One of the largest changes to be made is that the Lagonda will now feature Mercedes Benz GL Class platform. Earlier it sat on the Mercedes Benz M Class platform.
All that Aston Martin is going through for the Lagonda SUV Concept reminds us of Porsche’s story which happened during the launch of the Cayenne. The SUV was also highly criticized during its concept period. People accused the Cayenne of being ugly as per Porsche standards. However, after the release of the SUV, Porsche reported huge rises in sales, and the Cayenne turned out to be a huge success. A lot of people are saying that the Lagonda is extremely ugly, especially since Aston Martin has presented gorgeous vehicles like the DB9 and the One – 77 to the world. However, the performance and luxury quotients of the Lagonda are unquestionable! It’s an Aston Martin after all!
As far as the engine is concerned, we’re pretty sure that the company will put in a 6000cc V12 engine in the SUV. Lagonda will definitely be a four wheel drive vehicle, and will share motors with the legendary Aston MartinDB9. One admirable thing about the Lagonda is that the SUV will come with a wode number of available powertrains, and customers will be given a choice as per their will. One will be able to choose from a diesel variant, petrol as well as a hybrid option. This facility combined with the capabilities of the all-wheel drive system that comes with the Lagonda makes it a very potential vehicle for off road experiences!
We agree that the exteriors of the car are not as good as is expected from the company, but they have definitely set a new bar when it comes to luxurious and elegant interiors. However, Aston martin will definitely face extreme competition as it is entering a segment where giants like Porsche, Audi, Volkswagen, etc. have already made deep impressions. Beating legendary SUVs like the Cayenne, Touareg, Q7, etc. would definitely be very tough. We would love to see how the improved Lagonda fares in the SUV market.
All New 2015 Cadillac Escalade
This is the all new fourth generation of Cadillac’s default flagship. The fully redesigned Cadillac Escalade, which looks to reclaim some ground for the signature SUV that was once a leading vehicle in its segment. The 2015 Cadillac Escalade defines new level of luxury to the fourth generation of the brand’s largest and most daunting vehicle. Holding its roots firm to the old school Cadillac grounds the new Cadillac Escalade is massive and without any compromises. The new SUV from Cadillac is less a truck and more a caddy with a V8 and has been dramatically transformed in design and quality and will be much differentiated from the related Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban and GMC Yukon models.
The 2015 Escalade is offered both as a conventional sport utility vehicle and the plush, extra long eight-seat Escalade ESV version. On the outside, the new Cadillac Escalade retains what the Escalade has always been about. A humungous sport utility vehicle that shares quite some amount of its basic structure and running gear with its Chevy and GMC siblings! However, what completely transforms the new Escalade is the strikingly new and improved technology and material. The 2015 Cadillac Escalade is big and it is bold. The luxury SUV sports clear and classy lines and a full LED lighting rear and front façade. With aluminum hood and tailgate, the Escalade uses active grille shutters to significantly reduce the drag and effectively increase the fuel efficiency for the massive sports ute. Coming standard with 20 inch wheels, the Escalade also gives an option of 22 inch. While the extended ESV Escalade is 224 inches long the standard 2015 Cadillac Escalade is a modest 204 inches. The beasts can tow from 7,700 to 8,200 pounds, depending upon the configuration.
Talking about the power, the standard 2015 Escalade is powered by a 6.2 liter V-8 engine generating massive 420 horsepower. The engine produces a whopping 460 pond feet of torque and is mated with a six-speed automatic transmission. A new addition is the direct fuel injection and cylinder shut-off that translated to better fuel efficiency. Just like its predecessors, 2015 Cadillac Escalade comes in rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive versions. On the inside, the new Cadillac Escalade looks amazingly classy and sophisticated an impressive choice among various accents.
The 2015 Cadillac Escalade will debut this fall and is expected to be priced at about $65,000 and above. The masculine and gigantic luxury SUV will be a direct competition to the GMC Yukon Denali, Infiniti QX80 and the Mercedes Benz GL-Class.
2013 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class Expands and Evolves
All SUVs are not created equal- especially when it comes to their roomy interiors. Luckily, luxury auto brand Mercedes-Benz knows exactly what its family-friendly buyers desire, and the company has worked diligently to address many of the issues large families face. In short, if you’ve been searching for a large, family-friendly SUV that got both luxury and style, you should check out the new 2013 Mercedes-Benz GL- Class, which has been stretched quite a bit for the next model year.
Power: The newest GL- Class boasts more clout than its predecessor, with a 3.0-liter BlueTec diesel engine that produces 240 horsepower and 455 lb.-ft. of torque (an increase of 40 hp and 50 lb.-ft.) The GL 550 models, for their part, feature a new 4.7-liter twin-turbocharged gasoline engine, with engine output varying depending on the trim level of the model. All GL- Class models come with a seven-speed automatic transmission that’s also available on the smaller Mercedes-Benz M- Class.
Exterior:The exterior of the new Mercedes-Benz GL- Class has seen several edits since the last model year, from the new flared wheel arches and side stampings on the back of the vehicle to its new LED and bi-xenon lights. This style makeover seems to be inspired most by the newest Mercedes-Benz M–Class. Of course, as mentioned, the new Mercedes-Benz GL- Class models have also been stretched. The U.S.-made GL- Class is longer, wider, and taller than the current 2012 model.
Safety Features: Include Crosswind Assist, Parktronic with Active Park Assist, Collision Prevention Assist (to help prevent rear-end collisions), Pre-Safe (which prepares drivers for collisions), Adaptive Brake Assist (prepares the braking system for an upcoming collision), a rear-view camera, Attention Assist (to help protect and alert drowsy drivers), and adaptive high-beam assist for the headlights on the new Mercedes-Benz GL 350 and the Mercedes-Benz GL- 450 models. The most luxuriously-appointed GL- Class model, the Mercedes-Benz GL 550 adds Lake Keep Assist and Passive Blind Spot Assist (optional on other models). Adaptive cruise control is optional for all models as well.
Inside the Cabin: The new GL- Class also looks quite a bit like the Mercedes-Benz M-class inside, with such features as: the brand’s multi-function COMAND control system, an optional hard drive-based navigation system (which is standard for the 550 model), a seven-inch display that control’s the vehicle’s audio and entertainment options, tailored leather seating (on the 550 model- faux leather Artico material for the other trims), a climate control system, 10.4 cubic feet of storage in the rear cargo area, and three rows of seating.
Overall, the 2013 Mercedes-Benz GL- Class is quite luxurious, well-appointed, and provides ample space for large families. Of course, it’s not the speediest vehicle around at zero-to-sixty in 8.8 seconds for the base model, but it does achieve an amazing 5.6 seconds for the 550 model, which is quite impressive for a family-hauler. Families of five or more are sure to appreciate the room it has to offer, and it has the capacity to hold up to seven persons. The GL 350 starts at $73,700, while the top-of-the-line GL 550 starts at $95,900.
