Land Rover Announced Updates For The Range Rover Velar
Land Rover is updating its Range Rover Velar for 2018 with a fresh six-cylinder diesel engine and a slew of enhanced driver assistance and safety features.
The new D275 will bring a 3.0-liter V6 diesel option for customers producing 271 horsepower and 625Nm of torque. Those who will opt for the engine will also get to carry the D275 badge. No performance figures or fuel rating has been revealed, but Land Rover claims that the new engine will be capable of delivering 42.8mpg with CO2 emissions of 175g/km.
Aside from the new engine, all other petrol and diesel units will be fitted with new particulate filters. The P250 and the P300 models are both going to have a larger, 83-liter fuel tank.
The Velar is already fitted with a number of driver assistance technology, but even this has been updated with the Steering Assist and Lane Centring, allowing the vehicle to maintain a steady path when driving in a single lane. This Steering Assist feature works at speeds of up to 111mph.
In the new models, all will come standard with a rear camera, front and rear parking aids, driver condition monitor, emergency braking and lane keep assist. Also updated is the forward collision detection system, which can now work between 6pmh and 99mph to alert the driver to potential hazards. It will also be able to apply the brakes automatically during a critical situation.
All Velar models will be fitted with coil springs as standard. Four-corner air suspension will be an option on V6-powered models, as well as in the four-cylinder D240 and P300 cars. Other features to be expected are adaptive dynamic damping, scanning wheel and body movement.
The Kvadrat-made Premium Textile interior is available across the Velar range, not reserved anymore for top-end models. The D275 is on sale now for $67,293.
Top 4 Things About The 2018 Land Rover Range Rover Sports Coupe
Spy shots revealed more than what we expected for the 2018 Land Rover Range Rover Sports Coupe. The sloped roof clearly seen on the spy shots is reminiscent of what BMW has done on most of its SUVs.
Although the Land Rover already has the Range Rover Evoque Coupe in its lineup, that didn’t stop the British automaker’s plans to introduce a second coupe-like SUV. For now, it’s codenamed the L560, but we all know it’s going to be called the Range Rover Sports Coupe after the more on-road-oriented Range Rover Sport.
1. No Third-Row Seating
Those who are wishing that Land Rover will come out with a seven-seater SUV will need to mend their broken hearts again. Although the looks of the Range Rover Sports Coupe is not far off from the conventional Range Rover Sport, we can already see that the roof is seated much lower. With that low sloping orientation, don’t expect this SUV to have a third row for the sixth and seventh passenger.
2. Platform Is Similar To Jaguar F-Pace
Though the Range Rover Sports Coupe will be longer than the Jaguar F-Pace, it will use the same aluminum-intensive platform we have seen on the Jag. Why the larger size, you ask? The Range Rover Sports Coupe aims to bridge the wide gap between the Range Rover Evoque and the Range Rover Sport in the luxury-oriented lineup.
Apparently, the Range Rover Sports Coupe will be competing with the BMW X6 and the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe.
3. Four Powertrains To Be Available
For now, we’re pretty sure that the Range Rover Sports Coupe will be offered with an inline-4 and a 6-cylinder. But it’s also possible that at least in the United States, a new inline unit would be made available as a standard option. There are also talks that it will eventually offer an electric option similar to what Jaguar will be using for the I-Pace.

2014 Range Rover Sport: The All New Discovery Platform For Sports SUV Enthusiasts
This year, the Range Rover is not at all the same as it used to be earlier. The all steel structure of 2014 Range Rover Sport has underpinned even the last years Land Rover model and fails borderline from being sporty. However, the new owners of Land Rover i.e. Tata Motors have deployed a new generation aluminum structure which is light in weight and was also seen first time in the Range Rover launched last year. The weight reduction for a 2014 Range Rover sport is somewhere around 800 pounds which actually makes some difference.
However, the weight reduction might seem interesting to some if you give importance to the expanded dimensions of this version. Newly launched 2014 Range River Sport is 2.4 inch longer and 2.2 inch wider in comparison to its predecessors. The additional seven inches on wheel base make this SUV more subtle and balanced while also getting away from its predecessors’ bling styling. The newly introduced seven seat option, which is usually not a part of a full Range Rover is good but perches are small. However, no comprise is made on seating space and enough attention is paid to the comfort of driver as well as passengers.
Quality improvements in the well equipped, well designed and reconstructed inside cabin are quite apparent with extra wheel base offering more space. Reorganized seats have made seat comfort a priority with a bit of compromised luggage space, but we are not complaining. Materials used for building interiors are certainly of high quality and feels lovely to touch, must say the interiors are well thought while designing. However, rear seats are only generously comfortable, but overall the Range Rover sport offers loads of useful storage options and rather grand front seat comfort.
All electronic dashboard seems a little dumpy and disappointing in comparison to the remaining interior and the touchscreen controls of the infotainment panel are also a bit laid down as compared to the touchscreen panels available on its competitors. While on road, the 2014 Range Rover Sport ensures comfortable ride, graduated roll control, subtle approach to road bumps and well weighed steering that offer accurate performance. Some test drivers might find wading depth indicator a gimmick but is completely optional. Riding on tough rocks and want to protect tires? Here comes the all around cameras to show the exact position of the wheels in relation to the road, and trust it’s brilliant.
For a tough journey among mountains and mud, 2014 Range Rover sport is the SUV to watch out for as the comfort it and driving dynamics it offer are undoubtedly not available in any other crossover coming at its price.
The next gen Range Rover starts at a price of $20,000 and also has extra two seats on offer, which is not as bad as it seem too many. If you are looking for sports SUV and belong to families hauling from rich parents then surely 2014 Range Rover Sport is your safest bet for a futuristic crossover.
2014 Range Rover Sport Gets a Makeover!
What can be better than a SUV that no one can seem to dislike, no matter what? Yes, the same darling SUV being renovated into an even better and mightier one! Same is the case with the already amazing Land Rover Range Rover Sport. The new 2014 Land Rover Range Rover Sport is all set to get a makeover, which will surely help it maintain the great prestige and position that it flaunts of in the SUV world. Now one thing that we would like to mention is that when we say that the SUV is being renovated, we mean that it is being changed to quite a great extent! What else would the incorporation of a power operated third row of seats mean?
Yes, you read it right! Among the changes being made to the Range Rover Sport, our favourite one is the third row of seats that is being added to the cabin. In case you might ever need to travel with a larger number of passengers than you thought you will be travelling with, this feature will be best friend. The power operated third row is perfect for such cases! Now the question that arises is that will the engine be able to provide enough thrust for the added number of passengers? Well, wait till we tell you how powerful of an engine does the beast boast of!
Land Rover apparently plans of heading to insane levels of power and acceleration. Why? Well, the 2014 Range Rover Sport will be available with two different kinds of engines. The lower model will come with a 3000cc supercharged V6 engine, which will be able of delivering a power of 340 horsepower. And if this isn’t insane enough for you, then Land Rover has a crazy 5000cc supercharged V8 engine in stock for you! A 5000cc V8 engine. Supercharged! This mighty machine will deliver 510 horsepower, and is capable of possibly launching the vehicle into space. Now, both of the engines are paired with a ZF eight-speed transmission. Either a single-speed Torsen differential or an optional two-speed transfer case with low range will be incorporated to send the power to the roads. Also, the Terrain Response 2 system that the SUV boasts of enhances the off road riding experience by many folds!
Another important thing to note is that the new 2014 Range Rover Sport will weigh 800 pounds lesser! The extensive usage of aluminium in the new model has helped chopping the weight down significantly. Also, in order to make it faster and agiler, Land Rover has incorporated a sleeker widescreen front glass, which makes the vehicle more aerodynamic. Another significant change that you will find in the new Range Rover is the larger wheelbase. Land Rover has added an extra seven inches to the SUV’s wheelbase. Coming to the interiors, you will find a subtler and more responsive yet smaller and thicker steering wheel. You will also find comfortable and heavily padded seats, accompanied by a much larger interior space. The luxurious features that the SUV will feature will make it an absolute delight to travel in!

Range Rover Goes “Semi” Environment Friendly
Since the increasing awareness of the environmental problems that SUVs cause, a number of companies have come up with numerous alternatives which include innovative options like hybrid concepts as well. SUVs are known for their substantially low fuel economies, high levels of pollution causing emissions and a lot more. Under such circumstances, Range Rover has also come up with an effective plan that it will be using for its new SUVs. This alteration will lower emissions by a significant amount while causing negligible fall in power and performance.
As per the company’s new plans, the new SUVs that it will be producing will not be using the traditional V8 engine that almost all the Range Rover SUVs produced till now have featured. Range Rover plans to drop the V8 engine, replacing it with a much more efficient supercharged V6 engine. This new engine is certainly very powerful; it’s a supercharged one after all! However, the company as well as critics hope of seeing much reduced emissions from the new vehicles. Besides the new engine, the new SUVs will also feature some other changes. Range Rover seems to be getting a makeover!
Technically speaking, we all know that the supercharged V6 engine is going to be somewhat slower than the beast like V8 engine, but the improved efficiency and the lower emissions are a much desired characteristic! The V8 engine that Range Rover was using till now produces an overwhelming power of 375 horsepower. This power is used to produce a torque of 375 lb. – ft. This torque is enough to thrust the SUVs from rest to a speed of 60 miles per hour in just 6.5 seconds. However, the supercharged V6 engine under consideration produces a reduced power of 340 horsepower. This means that the torque produced by the engine reduces to 332 lb. – ft. As a result, the time taken to reach the speed of 60 miles an hour from a zero is 7.1 seconds. The difference of just 0.6 seconds might sound big to you, but not when the fuel economy statistics are considered! SUVs with V8 engines boast of a mileage of 14 miles per gallon while running in cities and 20 miles per gallon on highway. The increased mileages featured by these SUVs with the new engines are expected to rise to 16 and 22 miles per gallon respectively. The combined mileage will hence rise from 16 miles per gallon to 18 miles per gallon. Not only this! The Carbon dioxide emissions are also expected to reduce by over 22%!
Among the other changes that Range Rover plans to make, one pleasant change is that they are going to reduce the prices listed on the price tags of the various features that they offer. Anticipate lower prices for features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Active Rear Locking Differential, Tow Package, etc. Also, one of the colours that were offered has been taken back, while two new variations have been added to the already magnificent fleet of SUVs!
The New 2013 Range Rover!
Along with the beautiful Range Rover Evoque, Land Rover has launched its new 2013 Range Rover improving on the 2012 model of the SUV.
The new 2013 Land Rover Range Rover features a lot more than the 2012 model, making the two quite different from each other. One of the most outstanding differences is the weight of the car’s body. The 2013 model is made up of aluminium, which resulted in a reduction of 420kgs compared to the former 2012 model. With the reduction in around 39% of the weight, the new Range Rover is now much more fuel efficient, faster and stable!
The 2013 Range Rover will be available to customers in three different models – one petrol version and two diesel versions. All of these models will be featuring an automatic transmission system, and Land Rover’s trademark –all-wheel drive system. The petrol version will come with a 5000cc V8 engine. Sounds insane, right? There are two different trims for the diesel versions, one featuring 3000cc TD V6 engine and the other one featuring a 4400cc SD V8 engine. The petrol version’s 5000cc engine produces power of 375 horsepower and a torque of 375 lb. ft. The supercharged engine produces 510 horsepower and torque of 461 lb. ft. The top speeds that both trims attain are 130 and 140 miles per hour respectively. Also, these models reach the 60 miles per hour mark in 6.5 seconds and 5.1 seconds respectively.
Luxury is something that you will find in abundance in the car’s interiors. With an unparalleled sound system which comprises of over 20 speakers, you also get a climate control system and two LCD displays. The first display is used for displaying important information, while the other, touchscreen display is for entertainment and other controls.
The exteriors aren’t very different from the 2012 model. You will notice slightly improvised detailing in the headlamps, which now feature daytime LED lamps, making the car look much more aggressive. Land Rover has planned to make the interiors a bit more spacious by increasing the wheelbase slightly.
You cannot question the overwhelming success of the Land Rover’s Range Rover series. Land Rover seems to have got just the right blend, luxury and utility for this powerful SUV. Land Rover has certainly added a great car to its already amazing collection!
