2017 Renault Grand Scenic Is Longer, Taller, Wider And Better

renault grand scenic

When Renault unveiled its Renault Scenic back in March, everyone was wowed as it was based on the R-Space Concept. Two months after, the company is pulling the sheet off its bigger brother—the longer, taller, wider and much better performer, the 2017 Renault Grand Scenic.

According to a source, the Grand Scenic is nine inches loner, almost an inch wider, and a half-inch taller than its smaller brother. It is a completely redesigned Renault Scenic—from the front end to the rear end. The result is a sexier compact MPV segment in the Grand Scenic.

Coming in as standards to the Grand Scenic are the 20-inch wheels, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, full-color heads-up display, parking assistance, and diesel and two gasoline options.

It also has an all-new color that is exclusive to the Grand Scenic—the Vision Brown. Inside, it offers seating for five to seven people. They can enjoy the two-tone livery from the second equipment level up.

The exterior received major updates—new fascia, new headlamps, new grille and a redesigned hood. The windshield is also considerably longer and there corner glass panels before the side view mirrors.

But what gave the Grand Scenic a more elegant feeling is the 20-inch wheels with a twisted, five-spoke design. That certainly gives the Grand Scenic a more high-end appearance than the outgoing model.

Inside, nothing says spectacular than the Grand Scenic’s dashboard, corner glass that eliminates blind spots, and the cluster of tech such as an 8.7-inch touchscreen display, two USB ports, SD card slot, audio jack and 12-volt socket.

Renault also boasts of the car’s “Easy Life” sliding center console that allows a “saloon car cockpit feel” or a more open floor plan to make passengers more comfortable.

Pricing has not been released yet, but be ready to shell out £23,500 or $34,365 before options, taxes, and delivery.

2017 Renault Koleos To Be Unveiled In Beijing

It looks like French automaker Renault will have a new replacement for the compact Koleos crossover, and it will be a seven-seater flagship SUV ready to compete with the likes of Nissan, Mitsubishi, Mazda and Honda.

Renault confirmed it will carry the Koleos name, and that it be launched at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show. The company also unveiled the first official photo of the Koleos.

On the outside, what we can confirm is that the Koleos will be 5 meters longer than the current model, which has a length of 4.5 meters. With that size, it will be the biggest Renault passenger vehicle in production.

Aesthetically speaking, it will receive the same treatment as the Renault Talisman and Mega ne. It has a rectangular shape headlights and a LED running lights underneath that is hook-like in shape.

The design will be built on the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s Common Module Family, a partnership formed in 1999. The platform is also currently used for the Nissan Qashqai, Nissan X-Trail, Renault Espace and Renault Kadjar.

Inside, the cabin has that extra third row to fit seven people. This is a pretty major adjustment for the Renault. The head, hip and leg room are all pretty spectacular given the size of the SUV. But if you’re worried about compartment, don’t be. The one-touch folding rear seats will make sure to provide that.

The Koleos will inherit the Nissan X-Trail various drivetrain options, which include a gas-powered 2.0-liter inline-four that can produce 143 horsepower, a gas-powered 2.5-liter inline-four with 170 horsepower, and a diesel-powered 1.6-liter inline-four with 130 horsepower.

Transmission choices will include a six-speed manual and a six-speed EDC automatic with FWD as standard and AWD as optional.

Prices of the current Koleos are varied in markets, and the successor will might follow suit. In Australia, it starts at $28,490.

2017 Renault Megane Estate Shares Similarities With Nissan Pulsar

2017 renault megane estate

The similarities between the fourth generation Renault Megane and the 2015 Nissan Pulsar cannot be denied when the former was launched during the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. But unlike its Japanese cousin, the French hatchback is more exciting to look at because of its revamped DNA.

According to TopSpeed, potential buyers can take a look at the Renault Megane Estate when it makes its public debut during the 2016 Geneva Motor Show in March.

The new Megane has a GT version, which is not as powerful as the RS but has a sportier body kit and dual-clutch gearbox. This wagon version has an extra legroom for rear-seat passengers. It also has a bigger trunk, which would allow it to compete with the wagon versions of Volkswagen Golf and Ford Focus.

No details have been revealed yet about the C-segment wagon, but all the information we need would drop by March 1. For now, here’s what we know about the new Renault Megane Estate:

  • Based on the teaser photos earlier released, the hatchback and the wagon are almost identical from nose to the C-pillar. The only difference is the longer rear overhang, allowing for a quarter window and bigger trunk. The roof, of course, has long rails for sports equipment and longer trips.
  • As for the interior, there’s no information yet, except that it would most likely have the same sleek and gorgeous interiors as the hatchback version. This would mean Talisman-inspired features, a massive touchscreen display on the center console, large A/C vents on the dashboard, and a three-spoke steering wheel.
  • Renault also wants its customers to be as convenient as possible, so they included other components such as a full-color heads-up display, a seven-inch TFT instrument cluster, and an 8.7-inch touchscreen display.
  • Renault has yet to announce the pricing for this one, but the current model retails for $26,290 in the UK. The wagon version would most likely have a price range between $26,900 and $28,300.
