Chevrolet Released Pricing For 2017 Bolt EV

chevrolet-bolt-ev

It looks like Chevrolet is keeping up its promise to offer the 2017 Bolt EV at an affordable price as it recently announced an MSRP of $37,495, including destination charge. This is rather cheap considering the Bolt EV has an EPA-rated 238 miles on a full charge.

Also, depending on individual tax situations, customers may even receive a federal tax credit of up to $7,500 for a net value of $29,995. Alan Batey, president of GM North America and leader of Global Chevrolet, said that “value” is the hallmark for Chevrolet and their offering of an affordable Bolt EV proves their intent of letting their customers access an electric vehicle with plenty of range.

According to reports, Bolt EV buyers can expect range, cargo space, technology and safety features that all come standard in this vehicle with crossover proportions. Bolt EV is considered a smart buy for any customer, thanks to its dependable performance and sales and service support from a nationwide network of Bolt EV certified Chevrolet dealers.

With the Bolt EV, you’re not only saving on fuel and saving the environment at the same time, you’ll also be getting well-appointed equipment and features.

The Bolt EV is offered in the standard but well-equipped LT trim, which has a starting price of $37,495. It comes with a wide array of features such as Regen on Demand™ steering wheel paddle, rear vision camera, 10.2-inch diagonal color touch screen and MICHELIN™ Self-sealing tires (in certain circumstances). The top of the line is the Premier, which features all the equipment in the LT trim plus leather-appointed seats, front and rear heated seats, surround camera and rear camera mirror.

The pricing released includes the destination and freight charges, but excludes taxes, title, license and dealer fees. Select dealerships across the US are expected to start offering the 2017 Bolt EV by late this year.

Spy Shots Of Mid-Engined C8 Chevrolet Corvette Spotted

The images are grainy, but that won’t stop us from contemplating how sexy the mid-engined C8 Chevrolet Corvette will be once it is ready for production and release.

The spy photos show a prototype of the C8 in its actual body, so we can go ahead and start with the speculations. The front end is wrapped in blocky camouflage, effectively covering its contours, but the doors are only wrapped with squiggly patterns. And though there is a camo on the read end, too, it has been stretched tautly thus, revealing the rear’s overall wedge shape.

It’s easy to see that the C8 will have mid-engine proportions, any doubts whether or not the car will have a mid-mounted powerplant should be satisfied with these photos.

What to expect for the rear end are small rear windows, Corvette’s signature quad taillights, amber turn signal lights, forward-hinged doors, and frameless windows.

The C8 is expected to arrive with a small-block V-8 engine that can produce 450 to 500 horsepower. Shifting gears will be handled by a new Tremec-sourced seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission.

But aside from this, a hybrid model is also expected to be launched online later in the car’s life cycle. This is based on reports that General Motors trademarked the Corvette E-Ray, meaning it would probably use it on something. The C8 could also be developed using lessons from Nissan GT-R, Porsche 911 Turbo and BMW i8. More powerful versions might also be introduced later on, though this would also mean the revival of the ZR1 moniker.

This mid-engined Corvette will reportedly make its debut at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show in January. It will arrive in showrooms later than year as a 2019 model.

Expect the C8, which would effectively retire the C7 (though a few units will remain for those opting for a traditional powertrain), to top $100,000 in price tag.

Spy Shots of the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette C8

2019 chevrolet corvette c8 (5)

A prototype of what looks to be a mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette was sighted near a General Motors Company facility in the United States.

These latest shots came after similar ones published last year that showed a “mysterious” test car whose body bore inspirations from several other vehicles such as the Holden Commodore Ute for the front and rear sections and the C7 Corvette for the mid-section.

Wasn’t it just last month that reports came about the next-generation Corvette, the C8? Back then, there were indications that the C8 will be launched in mid-engine form at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show.

However, if the C8 will arrive in 2018, that means it’ll be a 2019 model, giving the C7 a relatively short lifespan since it arrived as a 2014 model. The reason for this is because GM started working on a mid-engine design for the C7, though those plans get scrapped before the company announced bankruptcy in 2009.

Based on these photos, the C8 will be sized similar to the C7, except that the former has a lower and wider stance. There are chunky buttresses on the sides of the engine bay, and if reports are right, there will be a sheet of glass in the center to show the car’s engine. Just how cool is that?

Only a small group of people have seen the C8 prototype, meaning designers and engineers (the same thing happened when Ford came out with the GT supercar), as it has been protected even from employees.

There’s not going to be a new design. Rather, the platform will be based on the C7’s aluminum spaceframe structure. This shows that although the C8 is an exotic car by itself, it cannot exactly justify a pricey tag.

The C7’s starting price is close to $60,000 while the C8 would probably have a base price of $80,000, add-ons not included. Production of the C8 will be at the Bowling Green, Kentucky, which GM has upgraded for the new car. The company apparently spent $700 million for the facility.

“Transformers: The Last Knight” Bumblebee Camaro Unveiled

bumblebee chevrolet camaro

As if the Chevrolet Camaro is not popular enough, thanks to the Transformers franchise, director Michael Bay has not revealed which car will be used for the “Transformers: The Last Knight”. However, reports say it will be the sixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro.

The car will serve as the alternate mode for the popular Autobot Bumblee, which has an emotional attachment to the show’s star—formerly played by Shia Lebeouf and now, Mark Wahlberg.

Bumblebee is traditionally a small, yellow car with a black strip right across the middle of the hood. Originally, a Volkswagen Beetle was used, though the latest franchise preferred the Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird muscle cars.

The new Transformers movie, which is due to be released on June 23, 2017, means a whole lot of new cars and trucks will play the alternate modes for the fighting robots—the Autobots and the Megatrons.

The Camaro to be used for the 2017 movie is not your ordinary Camaro. Aside from the signature yellow paint, the new Bumblebee will have afresh body kit with some distinct spoilers. Of course, the Autobot logo will also play a significant role in the new Bumblebee’s looks.

The new Camaro will reportedly be up for sale, or at least, that’s what is being expected from Chevrolet. If you like this particular Camaro, you would have to wait for additional details though. But chances are looking up since a 1992 Peterbilt 379 truck and 1967 Chevrolet Camaro used as alternate modes for Optimus Prime and Bumblebee were recently sold at auction.

There are no details yet about the movie. The only thing we can confirm is that Wahlberg, who made his debut in the previous “Transformers: Age of Extinction,” will remain its main protagonist.

Additionally, Josh Duhamel will reprise his role as William Lennox. Reportedly, Sir Anthony Hopkins is going to play a major part, too.

2016 Chevrolet Cruze Has EPA Rate Of 42 MPG Highway

2016 Chevrolet Cruze LT

In the early 2010s, a fuel-efficient sedan can go 40 miles on a gallon of regular gasoline. Now, the new 2016 Chevrolet Cruze is officially EPA-rated at up to 42 mpg on the highway.

According to a report, the new Chevrolet Cruze already has a city rating of 30 mpg, so the redesigned Cruze can compete well enough with the leading vehicles in this segment—the Honda Civic 1.5T (with EPA rating of 31/42 mpg city/highway) and the Toyota Corolla LE Eco (with EPA rating of 30/42 mpg city/highway).

The improvement in the car comes from the new 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that is standard on all versions of the Cruze. It also has aerodynamic improvements, as well as a lighter curb weight.

But the Cruze’s fuel economy story goes further. Other versions of the redesigned compact weren’t nearly as impressive in EPA ratings. The 2016 Chevrolet Cruze when equipped with a six-speed manual transmission that is standard on the Cruze L, LS and LT trim levels were only rated 29/41 mpg city/highway.

You have to pay a premium price, of course, for the highest fuel-efficient version of the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze. On the other hand, the automatic-only Cruze Premier has a rating of 30/40 mpg.

2016 Chevrolet Cruze LT

These numbers of the auto are all significantly higher than the outgoing Cruze, which will be sold as the Cruze Limited along the new model for the remainder of the 2016 model-year. The old Cruze’s automatic versions can only manage 26/38 mpg city/highway while the Eco model got a rating of 26/39 mpg for an automatic and 28/42 mpg for a six-speed manual.

Others are actually hoping for a better engine, but for now we have to content ourselves with the 1.4T engine. But for those who have fuel efficiency in their minds, they can wait around until Christmas for the 1.6-liter turbodiesel engine four cylinder that would be fitted in the Cruze for 2017.

2016 Chevrolet Silverado Rally Edition Gets Unique Body Panel

chevrolet silverado

Chevrolet has revealed the 2016 Silverado Rally Edition at the Texas Motor Speedway, and we can’t help but be wowed by its unique body panel, including a power dome hood.

The move sees Chevrolet extending its Silverado’s line of special editions, which offers more truck options than any other brand. Sandor Piszar, Chevrolet truck marketing director, said that their 2015 special editions clearly resonated well with new and younger buyers.

The brand’s total truck sales increased by 27 percent in 2015, which was double the increase for the total truck market.

The Chevrolet Silverado Rally Edition differs from the standard truck because of its matte black graphics package and large wheels. Although Chevrolet didn’t reveal much about the details of the Rally Edition, it did say that the changes were largely inspired by trends in street-performance trucks.

The Rally Edition comes in a monochromatic color scheme with black accents and bold hood and body stripes. It has blacked-out wheels, which can be had in either 20- or 22-inch sizes.

If you will go and check Chevrolet’s “build your own” website, you’ll find that the Rally Special Edition will come packing these features—22-inch wheels, a spray-on bedliner, 4-inch round black side steps, black graphics, box-side decals, and front and rear black bowties. That package will cost $4,995.

For those of you who want the Rally Edition, you will have to choose the 2016 Silverado 1500 in LT trim with the Z71 package. That will give you the 4WD pickup with 4.3-liter EcoTec3 V-6 with an option of either Extended Cab or Crew Cab. This will set you back by $46,965.

Meanwhile, while you decide on whether or not to get the Rally Edition, you can vote for your favorite special edition team as Chevrolet partnered their special edition trucks with a different Chevrolet Racing driver. Head on over to Chevy Trucks’ Twitter account to cast your votes.

2017 Chevrolet Sonic Comes With Fresh Exterior And New Tech

chevrolet sonic (5)

Chevrolet debuted its 2017 Chevrolet Sonic, which has a fun and sportier take on the brand’s small car variant. It does not only offer a fresh-looking exterior with LED signature lighting, but newer and bigger technologies as well such as the MyLink system with the segment-exclusive Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.

The styling is complementary to the comfort and convenience the new 2017 Chevrolet Sonic is promising in its features such as a heated steering wheel and a standard 7-inch diagonal color touchscreen for the new MyLink system. As for the additional safety package, there’s a new Rear Assist technology in the 2017 Sonic.

Steve Majoros, director of marketing at Chevrolet Cars and Crossovers, said that the styling of the 2017 Sonic markets it as fun, dynamic and efficient in the small car industry. Not to mention that it’s also affordable compared to some of its competition—Cruze, Bolt EV and 2017 Trax, Majoros added.

He said this is an important segment for Chevrolet because it will give the company a chance to prove itself serious in this particular variant, especially to new buyers.

On the outside, the 2017 Sonic has a new hood, new front fascia, new lighting elements, projector-beam headlamps, LED daytime running lamps, and new rear fascia.

The 2017 Sonic will be offered in LS, LT and Premier trims on sedan medals. There will also be a hatchback model in RS guise for LT and Premier trims. The sedan can also opt for an RS package.

Buyers can also choose new 15-, 16- or 17-inch wheel designs and four new exterior colors—Orange Burst Metallic, Brimstone, Cajun Red Tintcoat and Arctic Blue Metallic.

Under the hood, it would have the standard Ecotec 1.8L engine, which promises fuel efficiency, and boats of 138HP. It also packs a six speed automatic or manual transmission.

The 2017 Chevrolet Sonic will make its debut at the New York Auto Show next week.

2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Unveiled With 640hp, 10-Speed Auto

chevrolet camaro (8)

Everyone thought the 1LE would be the biggest and meanest Camaro to be unveiled this year. Well, we’re dead wrong. According to Motor Authority, Chevrolet just announced the debut of the new Camaro ZL1, which packs a staggering 640 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque.

That power comes from the familiar supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 found in cars like the Corvette Z06 and Cadillac CTS-V. This is combined with the lighter chassis of the sixth-generation Camaro’s Alpha platform.

The combination would give Ford’s Mustang Shelby GT350R a run for its money. It can even embarrass some other “powerful machines,” such as those being churned out by Porsche.

There are no significant details yet about the power and speed of the new Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, but expect it to be faster, of course, than the previous ZL1 that can run the quarter mile in 11 seconds. The new ZL1 has 60 horsepower more than the previous version, and it also weighs 200 pounds less.

And with the 10-speed automatic transmission, expect it to move right up there in the speed ranking. The transmission was developed with Ford, which initially wanted it for the new F-150 Raptor.

But those who don’t have the need for such speed can have the standard 6-speed manual with rev-matching.

There are other technologies used in the new ZL1 that has nothing to do with speed, but with a more efficient performance. The list includes magnetic ride control, an electronic limited-slip differential, performance-oriented traction control, launch control and a driving modes selector.

The new ZL1 has massive Brembos with six-piston calipers at the front and four-piston calipers at the rear too. Then, there are 15.35-inch discs at the front and 14.37-inch discs at the rear. The car sits on 20-inch wheels shod with Goodyear Eagle F1 tires that measure 285/30 at the front and 305/30 at the rear.

The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 will have its world debut next week at the New York Auto Show, so stay tuned for more details.

Chevrolet Announced A Camaro 50th Anniversary Edition

2017 chevrolet camaro 50th anniversary edition (2)

Chevrolet is marking the Camaro’s 50th anniversary with a special edition trim level loaded with all the best aesthetic touches imaginable according to Motor Authority. The first Camaro entered the auto scene in 1967, so the Anniversary Edition will arrive in time for 2017.

Chev actually launched the first Camaro on September 26, 1966 but by then, Ford Motor Company’s Mustang, which debuted in 1964, already developed quite a following. This was a challenge for Chev, but thanks to careful positioning and aggressive marketing campaign, the Camaro was well received.

From here automobile’s greatest rivalry began. The current Camaro is the sixth generation of the brand.

The 50th Anniversary Edition will be in Nightfall Grey metallic paint with an orange and black stripe running from nose to tail. Convertible models would have a black top.

It has a unique 20-inch alloy wheels that cover the orange and black calipers (available at front only for the V-6 powered models) that adds some extra color to the edition’s dark appearance. It will also have orange stripes on the hood, a front splitter, and a mesh grille, which has a satin chrome trim.

The anniversary edition also has the special “Fifty badges” on their front fenders. Inside, the 50th Anniversary Edition models have an all-black interior with suede inserts and orange stitching and badges on their seats. There are also badges on the instrument panel, seatbacks, steering wheel, and illuminated sill plates.

This anniversary package will only be offered on top-trim versions of the V-6 and the V-8 powered Camaros, the 2LT and 2SS, respectively. It also includes the RS Appearance Package.

The combination of tweaks creates a handsome Camaro. The pricing is still not available for the 50th Anniversary Edition since GM spokesperson Tara Kuhnen said it won’t be released until a later date. Expect it to be released this summer.

2017 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport Is Z06-Inspired

2017 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport (18)

The 2017 seventh-generation Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport is a culmination of the original Grand Sports of the 1960s, which was revived in 1996 and 2010. The car makes its debut at the Geneva Motor Show 2016.

For the seventh generation Grand Sport, Chevrolet made sure to fuse the best elements of the past editions, especially the suspension components, wider wheels and tires from a burlier variant, and the standard V-8 engine option.

According to CarAndDriver, compared to past editions, the 2017 Grand Sport is definitely wider, thanks to the current Z06’s cooling systems, wider rear fenders, and look-alike grille. It also has 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels fitted with Z06 285/30 and 335/25 Michelin Pilot Super Sport rubber. The optional Corvette’s Magnetic Ride Control will come standard with the Grand Sport, as well as the anti-roll bars and front and rear transverse composite leaf springs.

The Stingray Z51’s electronically controlled rear differential is standard for the GS. As for the brakes, the 2017 Grand Sport somewhere between the 14-inch front rotors and 13.4-inch rears used in Corvette Stingray.

The power of the GS comes from the LT1 6.2-liter V-8 engine used by Corvette Stingrays. It offers the GS in seven-speed manual transmission and eight-speed automatic, as well as in coupe and convertible body styles. There are fender hash stripes and full-length body stripes with optional six colors.

The last five Grand Sports were underutilized in terms of being racing cars because of General Motors’ arbitrary internal racing ban in 1963. For the seventh generation GS, Duntov is offering customers larger brake, fuel tank options, and L88 big-block engine option.

Chevrolet has yet to announce the pricing for the Corvette Grand Sport, but let’s expect it to be a few thousands more than the Corvette Stingray. The same goes for other models, so might as well expect this will also have the same price range.
