If the price tag of the regular Veloster is too much for you, then it’s time to check out this new Hyundai Veloster Value Edition. The South Korean automaker decided to release a value-packed edition for the popular Veloster, allowing the vehicle to become the choice for an everyday car.
Many of the options in the regular Veloster are now standard with the value edition, according to a report. This one has a starting price of $21,350, so you’re looking at a savings of $950 compared if you add all the options individually. The starting price for the regular Veloster without the add-ons is $18,100.
Extras That Are Now Standard
The options for the regular Veloster that are now standard to the value edition package are the six-speed dual-clutch transmission, 18-inch alloy wheels, proximity key with push button start, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, a panoramic sunroof, and a premium sound system with eight speakers and a subwoofer.
Powertrain Is Same As Regular Veloster’s
The Value Edition will come packing the same engine fitted in the regular Veloster. That’s a 1.6-liter inline-4 that can produce 132 horsepower and 120 pound-feet of torque. Those who want the extra power needs to upgrade to the Veloster Turbo, which has a 1.6-liter turbocharged inline-4 that produces 201 horsies and 195 lb-ft of torque.
The Veloster Turbo is also fitted with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission instead of the standard six-speed manual.
Next-Generation Veloster Is Being Tested
Hyundai is already testing a next-generation Veloster, which will be redesigned to better compete with its counterparts in the market. The next-gen Veloster will be bigger in dimensions. It may even walk away from the three-door layout of the current Veloster and make it a two-door the way a proper coupe should look like.
The debut of the next-gen Veloster should be sometime in 2018.

2017 Honda Civic
The 2017 Honda Civic has two powertrain options: a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that can produce 158 horsepower when paired with a 6-speed manual transmission and a 1.5-liter inline-4 turbo that produces 174 horsepower. The manual gearbox on the first engine is only available on the base model LX. That has a fuel economy of 35/41/35 miles per gallon city/highway/combined.
As for safety features, Honda packed the Civic with the Honda Sensing that earned it awards from National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS).
The 2017 Honda Civic has a starting price of $18,640, $21,000, and $26,500 for the base, EX, and Touring trims, respectively.
2017 Hyundai Elantra
The Hyundai Elantra also has two powertrain options. The base trim comes with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 147 horsepower. This is paired with a manual gearbox for the base model while the rest of the models get a CVT.
The Elantra got an EPA rating of 29/28/33 miles per gallon in the city, on the highway and combined, respectively, for this. It also boasts of another engine: a 1.4-liter inline-4 that churns out 128 horsepower. It is paired with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission.
Like the Civic, it also earned nods from the IIHS and the NHTSA, though its scores fell below those of the 2017 Honda Civic.
The starting price for the Hyundai Elantra is much lower than the Civic’s. You can get the base model for $17,150, which is a tad lower than the base model being offered by the Civic.

4 Things To Know About The 2017 Hyundai Elantra Value Edition
This month, Hyundai introduced a value edition for its Elantra line-up. This will allow people on a budget to get the Hyundai Elantra with a slew of important features, but without the skyrocketing price of the other trim levels.
Mike Evanoff, the product planning manager in Hyundai, said the South Korean company wants to give their customers a variety of options. The Value Edition will bridge the gap between valuable amenities and the price tag.
1. Price
First, the price. This new trim level is just $20.250. That’s a total of $1,215 in savings. Considering that the Value Edition added features to ensure comfort, convenience, and safety, the $20,000 price tag is not bad at all.
2. Additional Features
Aside from those that come standard to all trim levels, the Value Edition boasts of these features: blind spot detection with rear cross-traffic alert and lane change assist, leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather shift knob, LED daytime running lamps, auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink and compass, hands-free Smart Trunk release, proximity key with electronic push button start, and sunroof—power glass tilt and slide, safety one-touch.
It also has dual automatic temperature control with clean air ionizer and auto defogger, heated front seats, Bluetooth hands-free phone system, seven-inch Display Audio system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and power driver’s seat with lumbar adjust.
3. Standard Features
All Elantra trim levels now come with Bluetooth and cruise control while HID headlights with Dynamic Bending Light is now standard on the Limited trim. On the SE trim level, the additional standard features are steering-wheel phone and audio controls.
The Elantra is made up of 53-percent high-strength steel and 2.0-liter Atkinson cycle engine. This gives every trim level a solid foundation, plus the comfort, convenience, and safety features standard to every model. Drivers will be glad to know that Hyundai also offers complimentary services for the Elantra, including Automatic Collision Notification, Enhanced Roadside Assistance, Vehicle Diagnostic Alert, Monthly Vehicle Health Report, and In-Vehicle Service Scheduling.

3 Things To Consider About The 2017 Hyundai Accent Value Edition
Korean automaker Hyundai may be focusing on its Genesis brand for the upper echelon of the automobile market, but that doesn’t mean it has completely forgotten about its budget sedans, namely the Accent.
Recently, the automaker revealed that its subcompact Hyundai Accent sedan is now fully loaded for just the low price of $17,285. Called the 2017 Hyundai Accent Value Edition, this subcompact sedan is the perfect characterization of the brand’s budget roots.
Here are its key features based on a report:
1. It’s a little more than Accent’s base model.
The 2017 Hyundai Accent Value Edition is only $705 more than the base mode, the 2017 Hyundai Accent SE sedan. That one comes with a six-speed automatic transmission while the Value Edition doesn’t offer a manual. This small amount adds a number of features such as 16-inch aluminum wheels, cruise control, Bluetooth connectivity, steering wheel audio controls, rear disc brakes, and an armrest storage box. For an $18,000 car, these features are perfectly acceptable. It still doesn’t come with a backup camera, but that’s also not available on any Accent sedan, regardless of trim level.
2. It’s not the only budget option on the Accent lineup.
If you don’t need the extra features that the Value Edition is offering, you can opt for the $15,580 Accent SE with a six-speed manual transmission. If you want the hatchback version, which is honestly way more aesthetically pleasing than the sedan, that’s an additional $250. The Accent hatchback also offers a Sport trim level, which has dropped its manual transmission option and now is only available with a six-speed automatic for $18,330.
3. It hints of a redesigned model for next year.
Traditionally, Hyundai offers their Value Edition deals when a variant is nearing the end of its life. Although it’s quite exciting to know that it’s easier to afford an Accent with this new trim level, this isn’t the news we’re waiting about the Accent. This hints, however, of a redesigned model for next year or for 2018.
Hyundai i30 Wagon vs Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen

The third generation of Hyundai’s resident hatchback is here, and boy, do we love its elegant and sporty interior coupled with the classic space wagon design on the outside. The Hyundai i30, as it is called in the rest of the world (it’s referred to as the Elantra GT in the US), is a four-door hatchback with an angular look on the outside and a cleaner and modern layout on the inside.
Wagons used to be a big thing in the US, but their appeal has already faded. That’s not to say the i30 Wagon won’t have any competition. This aggressive and funky exterior will be challenged by the likes of Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen and the BMW 3 Series Wagon.
Inside, you’ll find a slew of tech features such as a rearview camera, phone connectivity via Bluetooth, USB, Android Auto or Apple Car Play. Under the hood, the i3 will be equipped with the new turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that can produce 138 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque.
It is expected that the i30 will have a starting price of $23,000, which is cheaper than the 3 Series Wagon and the Volvo V60, but a little more expensive than the Sportwagen.
Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen
Unlike the i30 Wagon, the Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen will only receive its update for the 2018 model year. It was last upgraded in 2014, which means there is at least a three-year gap in terms of these two cars’ designs. In terms of styling, the Sportwagen definitely has a quieter appeal than the i30.
But if you are more concerned with the interior and the power, then you have to give this Sportwagen a second glance. The interior is equipped with a three-spoke steering wheel, Alcatara-wrapped center section, a center console with a large touchscreen, and HVAC controls,. Other features include the 12-way power driver’s seat, a panoramic moonroof, and Climatronic auto climate control.
Under the hood, the Sportwagen will receive power from the 1.8-liter, turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that coughs up 170 horsepower. There are two transmissions available: a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic.
The base price for the Golf Sportwagen is $21,395.
2017 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Has Enhanced Multimedia Functions
Hyundai Sonata receives a number of audio and multimedia enhancements for the model year 2017. Though there are a few upgrades too in terms of transmission and powertrain, the real changes come in the form of a larger seven-inch, high-resolution color touchscreen display audio, standard HD radio, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the next-generation Blue Link Connected Car system based on a source.
In the heart of the 2017 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid is the 2.0-liter Nu GDI four-cylinder engine partnered with a six-speed automatic transmission that has a 38 kW electric motor and clutch. It also boasts of being fuel efficient, thanks to the Transmission-Mounted Electrical Device (TMED) that can deliver responsive and engaging driving characteristics.
To improve efficiency, the innovative transmission uses an electric oil lamp, making it possible for the Sonata Hybrid to solely operate on electric power at speeds up to 75mph by decoupling the gasoline engine from the rest of the drivetrain.
The Sonata Hybrid Nu’s engine can produce 154 horsepower and 140 lb-ft of torque while the electric motor can come up with 38 kW (51 horsepower) and 151 lb-ft torque. The hybrid system, on the other hand, has a net power of 193 horsepower at 6,000 rpm.
The Sonata Hybrid SE has ratings of 39 mpg in the city, 45 mpg on the highway and a combined EPA-estimated rating of 42 mpg. The total estimated range of the Sonata Hybrid is more than 650 miles under typical driving conditions.
The Sonata Hybrid is being offered in an all-new color palette that is going to be available by mid-year. The colors now are Hyper White, Nocturne Black, Metropolis Gray, Ion Silver, Cosmopolitan Red, Astral Blue and Skyline Blue. The interior colors are gray and beige in cloth or leather seating configurations and an additional Blue Pearl option for leather seats.
Pricing is as follows: Sonata Hybrid ($26,000), Sonata Hybrid Limited ($30,100), and Sonata Hybrid Limited with Blue Pearl Interior ($30,100).
Hyundai Genesis Gets Linked with Amazon’s Alexa
Hyundai announced that its Genesis luxury sub-brand is offering an integration with Amazon’s Alexa. The “skill” provided by the service enables the driver to issue certain commands to the car.
Alexa, the voice service of Amazon, lets users access certain capabilities or skills. The said elements allow them to interact with devices like the Amazon Echo, Fire TV, Tap, and Echo Dot. The system is integrated in the Hyundai Genesis Connected Services suite. The technology is available in the Genesis G80 and G90 sedan. The good news is that purchasing the new G90 comes with a gift card for the Amazon Echo.
The owner can simply issue commands directed to his car using the abovementioned compatible Amazon devices for the Alexa. As an alternative when the user is not near an Amazon device, he can still access the feature using a dedicated web portal or using his smartphone app.
When near Amazon devices, dedicated apps or web portal, the user can start the service by saying, “Alexa open Genesis.” Then this can be followed by commands such as “Alexa, tell Genesis to lock my car,” or “Alexa, tell Genesis to start my car at 70 degrees,” and others. The commands will be forwarded to the Genesis G80 or G90. From the car, the user can also control the Amazon devices he has at home.
The partnership of Hyundai and Amazon started yesterday (August 19, 2016). To use the service, the owner should enable the Genesis “skill” using the Alexa app. The app will run the owner through the whole activation, tutorial and customization process.
It was revealed through a report that the Alexa app in the Hyundai Genesis G80 and G90 functions by starting the car, controlling its air conditioning and heating system, operating the locking functions of the doors, and turning on the lights of the auto.
2017 Hyundai Sonata Adds Dynamic Headlights For Better Driving
Hyundai tweaked a little something in their 2017 Sonata. The addition of dynamic headlights will enable better driving, the Korean automaker believes.
The headlights will turn their beams up when the driver turns a corner, according to a source. This will help the driver see the road around the bend more clearly than before. Although only available on the top-of-the-line Sonata Limited, these dynamic headlights are especially helpful for drivers with eyesight problems.
Aside from the headlights, Hyundai announced some pricing and equipment adjustments across the Sonata range. These changes will come in full effect in this new model year.
Last year, the Hyundai Sonata was offered in one of three four-cylinder engines: a 2.4-liter four-cylinder that can produce 185 horsepower, a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that can come up with 245 horsepower, and a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 178 horsepower. The last one is exclusive only to the fuel-efficient Sonata Eco.
The 2.4-liter and 2.0-liter engines are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission while the 1.6-liter engine will work together with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission to swap gears.
According to Hyundai, the entry-level Sonata’s price will rise by $300 to $22,435 while the SE will cost $200 more than the previous $22,785. The Eco models will cost less, on the other hand. Previously priced at $23,960, it will now cost less than $600 last year.
The Sport edition with the 2.0-liter turbo engine dropped by $2,325 to $27,435, though the Sport trim with the 2.4-liter engine stayed at $24,235.
Why the price drops? Hyundai decided to delete some standard features in previous models such as the HID headlights, LED taillights, proximity key, dual-zone climate control, and a blind spot monitor.
If you want the Sonata Limited, it will now cost $27,985, $200 less than the 2016 model. Consumers can choose to add the dynamic headlights, but this will be a part of the $3,400 Technology package, which will also include heated and vented front seats with memory, a navigation system, and more.
The Limited 2.0T has the Technology package plus more. It remains at $34,910.
Hyundai Tucson Mildly Updated For 2017

The redesigned 2016 Hyundai Tucson sold like pancakes this year. Its sales have doubled compared with the numbers it posted from last year until June 2016. The Korean automaker didn’t need to change much for its smallest crossover, seeing as it has been wildly successful in its target market.
Luckily, Hyundai heeded the sales figures, and only gave minor interior tweaks to the 2017 edition. These tweaks included the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay availability, as well as a new audio system and barely noticeable revisions to the cabin.
It’s a welcome development to see Apple’s and Android’s smartphone compatibility software with the new Tucson, although it’s kind of a bummer that this integration is only available on the top Limited trim level. Of course, there are third-party companies that can install the software in your lower-Limited Tucson trim, but it’s just not the same as getting it straight from the source.
The Tucson Limited is the only model that has a larger 8-inch touchscreen with navigation compatibility with the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto tech. The other trim levels—the SE, Eco and Sport—are stuck with the mediocre 5-inch touchscreen that includes a backup camera and Bluetooth audio streaming.
Hyundai also announced recently that it has software updates to retroactively add Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to current Tucson models, but that also means it will only be available for the top trim level.
There’s another new development for the 2017 Tucson, and that’s the 315-watt Infinity audio system. This, unfortunately, is also reserved for the Limited trim level. But don’t worry if you only have the budget for the Tucson Eco and Tucson Sport since these models now come standard with rear-seat air vents. The Sport will now also come packed with the Limited’s door panels.
The exterior and powertrains remain the same, but that’s completely okay since Tucson is powered by 1.6-liter turbo four-cylinder standard on Eco, Sport and Limited. Prices stay the same for the SE ($23,595) and the Eco ($25,045) while the Sport ($26,795) and Limited ($30,670) are actually a couple of bucks cheaper than the previous tags.
2017 Genesis G80 With New Sport Trim Gets Released In Korea
The 2017 Hyundai Genesis G80 made its world debut at the 2016 Busan Auto Show. Aside from the regular sedan, we also saw the launch of the Genesis G80 Sport.
Hyundai’s Genesis sedan has been updated for the 2017 model year, and since it has been moved to the Genesis luxury brand, it was rechristened as the G80. This particular vehicle will compete against midsize luxury sedans such as the BMW 5-Series, Cadillac CTS and Mercedes-Benz E-Class according to a report.
In the Korean market, in particular, the car will feature two gasoline V6 engines in the powertrain lineup. A diesel might also be up for grabs, although there’s no clear plan yet for this.
The gasoline-powered V6 engines will include the 3.8-liter unit and the twin-turbocharged 3.3-liter unit that debuted in the 2017 Genesis G90 full-size sedan.
As for the United States, there are still no confirmed specifications for the G80, although we’re expecting the 3.8-liter unit to be offered. This particular engine will provide 311 horsepower while the twin-turbocharged 3.3-liter unit can offer 365 horsepower.
There is high hope among car enthusiasts that Hyundai Genesis’ 420-horsepower 5.0-liter V8 engine will also be used in the G80.
The standard transmission would be an 8-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive. But don’t fret, an all-wheel drive will also be available as an option for the G80.
As the current Hyundai Genesis is exiting the market, fans of the model are waiting for what’s in store in the new Genesis. The updated 2017 model will get minor visual tweaks, including new bumpers, new internals for the headlights, and a revised grille.
The G80 is expected to be available in the US market this year. It will be the second of six separate model lines that Genesis plans to launch until 2020. Later this year, a smaller G70 sedan will be introduced. This is based on the recent New York concept from Genesis.
Next year, two SUVs and a large coupe will join the lineup.
