Top 3 Facts About The 2018 Lexus LS

2018 lexus ls 500 twin-turbo v6 (1)

For many years, Lexus LS, which debuted in 1989 at the Detroit Auto Show, has been the standard of many stylish sedans. Lexus is looking to recapture some of that former glory during this year’s North American International Auto Show.

To do that, Lexus has to make this fifth-generation LS larger, more powerful, and more stylish than ever based on a report.

1. Size And Design

The new architecture used by Lexus makes the LS lower, wider, and is closer to the ground center of gravity. The front end reminds us of the LC Coupe but the side profile is far different from the current generation LS. It comes with Lexus’ new six-side window design and 20-inch wheels with a special hollow rim structure which can reduce the vehicle noise.

Why is this important for Lexus? The exhaust will certainly be noisier than this model’s predecessor even if the sedan is fitted with an active noise cancellation system in the cabin.

2. Powertrain

During the auto show, the Japanese automaker only showed the specs of the LS500 model. It comes packed with a twin-turbocharged direct-injected 3.5-liter V-6 engine that can produce 415 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque.

The power allows the LS to compete well with its counterparts from other luxury car makers: the Mercedes-Benz S550 that cranks out 449 horsepower and the BMW 750i that produces 445 horsepower.

The engine is paired with Aisin-supplied 10-speed automatic transmission with rear-wheel drive as standard and all-wheel drive as optional. According to Lexus, the car can go 0-60mph in just a matter of 4.5 seconds.

3. Interior

Luxury is the name of the game in the LS’ cabin. It’s covered with plush, buttery-smooth leather and beautifully designed dashboard. Owners can choose different types of wood trim and ambient lighting that is based on Japanese lanterns.

It also comes with Lexus’ remote touch interface that controls the 12.3-inch central display screen. It has smartphone-like operations.

3 Reasons Why The 2018 Honda Odyssey Remains To Be A Family-Friendly Minivan

2018 Honda Odyssey (1)

The trend all over the world now is for families to choose three-row crossovers instead of the minivans. Fortunately, in the United States, at least, there is still a huge market for the likes of the Honda Odyssey.

Introduced during the 2017 Detroit Auto Show, the new 2018 Honda Odyssey promises versatility, functionality, and most of all, space. A huge chunk of space. On the outside, the Odyssey seemed to have not changed at all from its predecessor. The only changes are the embellished beltline, a hockey-stick character line, new LED headlights and taillights, and a grille similar to the one on the Pilot.

However, here are the real gems in the new Honda Odyssey based on a source:

1. Magic Slide Seats

The previous models for the Odyssey has a removable center section for the second row. That means it can either seat three or be separated for two. Honda made this even more incredible now. The whole row can be moved forward to allow easier access to the third row. This also means that the ones on the first row can reach back easier to the people in the middle row.

The center can still be removed, so the outboard seats can slide to the center together. Either of the outboard can move to the center, depending on whether the third row wants a more spacious left or right. It can also be moved in a side-to-side positioning in increments.

2. Cabin Watch

The cabin is filled with technologies that allow for better communicating between those in the front seats and those in the rear seats. The most interesting out of which is the Cabin Watch, an infrared camera that works in darkness or daylight. It allows people in the front seats to see what’s going on in the last two rows. The images on the camera will be sent to the dashboard’s central display screen. Pinch and zoom is allowed.

3. Honda Sensing

The safety features are another element that should factor into why families are choosing Odyssey. The Honda Sensing packs a suite of active safety features that are standard on all models, except for the base LX.

The package includes adaptive cruise control with automated emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, road-departure mitigation, and rear cross-traffic alert.

2017 Genesis G80 With New Sport Trim Gets Released In Korea

2017 genesis g80 sport (3)

The 2017 Hyundai Genesis G80 made its world debut at the 2016 Busan Auto Show. Aside from the regular sedan, we also saw the launch of the Genesis G80 Sport.

Hyundai’s Genesis sedan has been updated for the 2017 model year, and since it has been moved to the Genesis luxury brand, it was rechristened as the G80. This particular vehicle will compete against midsize luxury sedans such as the BMW 5-Series, Cadillac CTS and Mercedes-Benz E-Class according to a report.

In the Korean market, in particular, the car will feature two gasoline V6 engines in the powertrain lineup. A diesel might also be up for grabs, although there’s no clear plan yet for this.

The gasoline-powered V6 engines will include the 3.8-liter unit and the twin-turbocharged 3.3-liter unit that debuted in the 2017 Genesis G90 full-size sedan.

As for the United States, there are still no confirmed specifications for the G80, although we’re expecting the 3.8-liter unit to be offered. This particular engine will provide 311 horsepower while the twin-turbocharged 3.3-liter unit can offer 365 horsepower.

There is high hope among car enthusiasts that Hyundai Genesis’ 420-horsepower 5.0-liter V8 engine will also be used in the G80.

The standard transmission would be an 8-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive. But don’t fret, an all-wheel drive will also be available as an option for the G80.

As the current Hyundai Genesis is exiting the market, fans of the model are waiting for what’s in store in the new Genesis. The updated 2017 model will get minor visual tweaks, including new bumpers, new internals for the headlights, and a revised grille.

The G80 is expected to be available in the US market this year. It will be the second of six separate model lines that Genesis plans to launch until 2020. Later this year, a smaller G70 sedan will be introduced. This is based on the recent New York concept from Genesis.

Next year, two SUVs and a large coupe will join the lineup.

2017 Mazda CX-4 To Be Unveiled At Beijing Motor Show

2017 mazda cx-4 (4)

Mazda introduced the Mazda Koeru concept during last year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, promising to venture into the growing crossover SUV segment. This is the answer to that—the Mazda CX-4. It came sooner than expected, but who’s really complaining?

Most upcoming models come as prototype, but based on a source, the CX-4 was immediately spotted in production in Asia late 2015. By the beginning of 2016, Mazda has confirmed this and said it will be unveiled at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show this April.

The CX-4 will walk on that thin line between Mazda 3 and CX-5, so it will probably be the sportier, coupe version of the CX-3.

Mazda has already released a few teaser photos for the CX-4, and we can’t help but be charmed by it. The CX-4 will have the same features such as the KODO-styled front end, massive grille, and sculpted engine hood. Koeru’s grille frame extends into the headlamps—a feature not available on current Mazda units.

Koeru has a sporty profile, and we can see this on the CX-4 with its roof sitting slightly higher and its door handles having standard design.

Inside, the CX-4 interior is not as fancy as the current CX-5. But this doesn’t mean the CX-4 will have no premium features since it comes with aluminum inserts, leather, contrast stitching, and overall fit-and-finish.

Since the CX-4 is configured to become a coupe, it will feel less roomy than the CX-5.

No exact word yet on the vehicle’s powertrain, but it might actually not go too far off and remain inspired by the CX-5. That one has 2.0-liter SkyActiv unit rated at 155 horsepower and 150 pound-feet of torque in entry-level guise and a more powerful 2.5-liter SkyActiv with 184 horsepower and 185 pound-feet of torque.

Choices for transmission would make us pick between a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic.

If it will cost as much as the CX-5, then you better prepare around $21,795.

Lexus LC 500 and LC 500 Hybrid to Debut At NY Auto Show

Lexus LC 500

Lexus is gearing up for the showdown of some of its 21 models at the 2016 New York Auto Show, which will be held on March 25 until April 3 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Manhattan. But apart from the 21 Lexus models to make its feature, the company will also be unveiling the all-new LC 500 and its hybrid counterpart.

The new luxury LC coupe was revealed in January at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit while the LC 500 Hybrid made known its appearance just this March at the Geneva Motor Show.

The NY Auto Show will mark the hybrid’s first North American debut, as well as its first appearance with the Lexus LC 500.

The LC lineup basically presents a new paradigm in Lexus’ engineering processes and design direction. It also marks a new beginning for the brand that aims to be recognized for its aesthetics appeal and engineering performance.

The Lexus LC 500 has a newly developed 10-speed automatic transmission, the first ever in a luxury vehicle. This is also the first Lexus to use the all-new, premium rear-wheel drive luxury platform, which promised enhanced performance. Inside, it has a cockpit-elegant inspired layout that is reminiscent of a sports car.

The hybrid car, on the other hand, uses the world’s first Multi Stage Hybrid System, which is the next generation hybrid powertrain designed for performance automobiles. The system can manage to align speed, power and fuel consumption all at the same time. It has the “M” mode too, which promised to give drivers the experience of driving responsive gear shifts.

Furthermore, Lexus is expected to showcase its 2016 GS F, the 2016 Lexus RX, as well as the GS F and RC F “360 Virtual Reality Experience,” which would allow the show’s attendees to experience driving these cars on a professional race track.

Redesigned 2017 Subaru Impreza To Launch Late March

Subaru Impreza Sedan concept

The Subaru Impreza Sedan concept car.

Subaru‘s 2017 Impreza will ride on the new modular platform the company introduced earlier this week. The new redesigned compact in both sedan and hatchback variants will debut later this month—on March 23 to be exact—at the New York Auto Show.

Aside from a redesigned platform, the new compact will also have a sleeker design language compared to the Subaru Impreza Sedan and Impreza Hatchback shown earlier during the auto show season.

But of course, remember that Subaru always churned out mightily impressive stylish cars as concepts that turn out to be a dud in production. This has been the curse of the company in the past years. Here’s hoping Subaru can break that cycle, though leaks of the production 2017 Impreza don’t look as good as the concept.

The Subaru Global Platform, which will be used as well other future Subarus, promises improved refinement, a lower center of gravity, and increased stiffness.

The platform is 70 to 100 percent more rigid than the current chassis, and it is 40 percent more in terms of impact energy absorption.

The key Subaru features will remain, so the new Impreza will likely have a boxer-four engine and all-wheel drive as standard.

Customers can also enjoy Subaru’s EyeSight, which included active safety features, as well as other tech features. The interior is likely to be more spacious too.

The new Impreza hatchback was first seen in silver at the Tokyo Motor Show while a red sedan added a trunk at the LA Auto Show a month later.

However, the debut will only include the more basic Impreza lineup. Subaru fans will have to wait for a new version of the Impreza-based sport compact. But those who want the next XV Crosstrek may enjoy having it sooner since it was already previewed as a concept at the Geneva Auto Show last week.
